This may be software or hardware issue,mainly it will be software,
check using pendrive to see usb is working.

if your using vista or win 7 you have to update the drivers...if you are usinh xp and you have to update the Motorola diver...

Try to install the same driver for Windows xp
in windows 7 in Compatibility Mode

For running in Compatibility Mode in windows 7
Right Click the app and select the properties
select the Compatibility Tab
select the os =windows xp sp3
and dont forget ti tick "Run ad Administrator"

I also would recommend you use ethernet since you do not have to install any software to make it work.

You will need to reboot the cable modem when ever you change how its connected also Ethernet/USB or if it was connected to a different PC.

try installing the motarola as a new device and request that windows uses the internet to find the software/driver needed.
