Blue Screen or Pixelated on Playback

I have a blue screen or pixelated/distortated playback. I have tried a head cleaning cassette. It seemed to work, but within a few minutes after cleaning it returned to its original state. I tried the head cleaning cassette again but I have not seen further improvement. Is it possible to clean the head myself? Or could it be a different problem?

Check Canon's Website. There's a known problem with video chip on several different models...including zr80...a loose connector from the CCD.

I know what I'm talking about because I just got one fixed...for FREE.

Play back on jvc video movie GR-A1E distorted

It is possible that the heads in your JVC video camera need cleaning, especially if the playback picture looks distorted and similar to a VHS tape played on a player with dirty heads. Dirty or worn-out heads can cause playback issues, including poor picture quality, distorted images, and tracking problems.
To clean the heads in your JVC video camera, you can try the following steps:
  1. Purchase a head cleaning cassette: You can find head cleaning cassettes online or in electronics stores. Make sure to get one that is compatible with your JVC video camera.
  2. Insert the cleaning cassette: Open the tape compartment on your JVC video camera and insert the head cleaning cassette. Close the tape compartment.
  3. Run the cleaning tape: Press the play button on your JVC video camera to run the cleaning tape. The cleaning tape will clean the video heads as it plays.
  4. Eject the cleaning tape: Once the cleaning tape has finished playing, eject it from your JVC video camera.
  5. Test your tapes: Try playing your tapes again to see if the picture quality has improved.
If cleaning the heads does not solve the problem, it is possible that there is a more serious issue with your JVC video camera.

My sony trv460 only shows blue screen on playback - first it was skipping - I bought head cleaner but the camcorder does not run it - I have tried using alchol with cotton to wipe directly, but still

You can also try blowing compressed air similar to what you use to clean your keyboard. It can often dislodge any particles that impede the heads from spinning properly.

I have a blue screen during playback mode on my Sony DCR-HC32. I am not able to see anything I recorded. What should I do?

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if a blue screen is displayed when attempting to playback video from the camcorder.
  1. Stop the tape.
  2. Ensure the tape has been rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
  3. Play the tape.
  4. If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
  5. Clean the video heads of the camcorder using a dry head cleaning cassette.IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions for use provided with the head cleaning cassette. It may be necessary to use the head cleaning cassette more than once per session.
  6. Reinsert the tape into the camcorder.
  7. Play the tape.
  8. If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
  9. Insert a different tape with video footage into the camcorder.
  10. Ensure the tape has been rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
  11. Play the tape.

No playback pics. Blue screen. Can't record.Used x2 since service.

I just made contact with a service tech who seems very competent and who won me over. Have problem with video and audio dropout similiar to dirty heads on a 10 year old DCR-VX2000 but which is a larger problem attributed to worn parts which will need replacement. Do not know how old your unit is, but will share name of person/company if you wish. Only thing that worries me is if you by chance had had yours repaired by them!!! They are a Southern California company.

Bad playback quality

Some possible cause of lines, noise or pixelation during playback are: 1. Dirty heads on the recording machine. If the heads were dirty at the time of recording, the dirty heads didn't record a strong enough signal on the tape. The damage is done for this tape and recovery is unlikely. Best advice here is to use only premium grade new tapes and keep your camcorder clean by occasionally running a cleaning tape. 2. Physical tape damage. Any distortion of the tape will result in mistracking and subsequent loss of data. 3. Built up oxide deposits or other debris in the guidepost corners can also result in tape edge damage. Keep your machine clean! 4. Improper tape storage - Even short term exposure to high temperatures over 130 deg f. can permanently damage the tape. The black cassette housing readily absorbs the sun's infrared rays and internal cassette temperatures can soar even if left in direct sunlight on just a warm day. It doesn't take much heat to slightly distort the plastic shell or ruin the tape contained within. * Try other tapes to ensure the problem lies within the tape and not the camcorder. * If the problem becomes apparent on all tapes, try a head cleaner. After cleaning the heads, the tapes may not play cleaner if the recording was done while the heads were dirty.
