Hi, soak the chuck in crc overnight then put the drill in low speed and reverse. Hold the chuck by hand or with multi grips and pull the trigger. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Kobalt cordless drill keyless chuck stuck shut

I have the same problem. It got progressively worse over time. The chuck did not want to tighten all the way at times and then got stuck open. There is a screw in the center to hold the chuck on. It is a left hand thread and I believe it loosened and the jaws became jammed on the loose screw. I tapped on the screw using a screwdriver and was able to tighten it a bit thus allowing the jaws to free. I removed the screw, put some thread locker on the threads and reassembled it. Seems fine now

How to remove drill chuck

drill chucks are pressed in, and beveled. The way I found is to open the chuck and tighten it around something like a lag bolt that is firmly secured to something like a bench top, I use the telephone pole outside my garage. After secured tight, give the drill a few raps with a rubber mallet, its in there tight but will come out.

How can i remove the chuck from my cordless dewalt power drill

Hello, W/D here.

To remove your chuck, open the jaws of the chuck fully, but don't open them so tight that they lock in the open position. Remove the screw inside the chuck. Spray the inside of the chuck with penetrating oil. Tap around the edge of the chuck, while pulling it away from the motor.
It should come right off, with a little effort.

Best regards, --W/D--

How to--- chuck removal DC925 drill DeWalt

Open the chuck fully. Inside the center bottom of the chuck you will normally find a reverse threaded lock screw that you must first remove. If it is hard to loosen, you may need to heat it with a micro torch or a heat gun to make the thread lock compound slip. Then fasten the smaller end of an allen key firmly into the jaws of the chuck. Engage the low gear. Then hit the longer end rapidly with a hammer to unscrew the chuck by rotating it anti clockwise.

My dc927 chuck is jammed fully open and won't move. How can I lossen it. Regards George

Something I would try:

George, look down the center of the chuck jaws with a bright light. It's going to be difficult to see, but there is an Allen head screw down in there.
Taking the screw out, will afford you the opportunity to remove the chuck from the drill. The drill should have a slightly tapered shaft, and the chuck has a tapered hole to match. It might be stuck on tight. Tap on the back side of the chuck, with a wooden block, and hammer.
(Yes, this may require a helper)

Tap on one side, then the other to try to remove the chuck evenly.
With the chuck off it may release pressure on the jaws. It may not.
In this case the chuck will have to be opened up, (Which will release pressure on the jaws), and the jaws reset.

Dewalt dc925 chuck is stuck closerd with a hole saw bit in it can not loosen the chuck to removed the bit any ideas have tried a vice and have tried pliers will not come open

Try a little WD 40 into the jaws around the shank of the bit, if possible.
Otherwise, channel locks and a quick twist has been the only thing that's successful for me.
Good Luck!

Removing the dewalt DC925 'rohm' chuck

I simply placed the chuck into a large vise and turned the drill counter clockwise and the chuck spun right off no problem without damaging anything!! It does have some thread lock on the chuck but just use your man strength and its as simple as turning the lid off the pickle jar! Do not waste your time or money with the removal tool...YOU DONT NEED IT!
