I purchased a new Dell Computer in 2/08 with Windows Vista installed. When I put my old disk that came with the HP printer and tried to download it, the computer stated that it was incompatible with Vista. I downloaded another program that worked for awhile, then when I logged on, it wouldn't print - showed stuck on organizing photos. When my husband logged on his desktop, it worked ok. I chatted with an HP tech, who had me uninstall the program and install Essential 3.0. Now it won't print on either of our log-ins. Also, since I installed the new program for HP photosmart a few months ago, my Dell computer would turn off and reboot, showing an error and crash dump. I've worked with Dell tech's for "hours" and after yesterdays session, with the Photosmart disconnected, and many adjustments, the problem went away. When I reconnected the HP photosmart, the problem came back. Dell said I needed drivers and software compatible with Windows Vista. I've uninstalled everything beginning with HP on the control panel programs, and computer is still shutting down and rebooting. Before I call Dell tech support again, I wanted to see if I could get the correct drivers and program installed. Can you help? I'm trying to be patient, but I've spent many hours on the phone with Dell and chatting with the HP tech. Thank you
Their is none. I talked to Hp rep who told me that HP did NOT make a valid driver vista for the HP 8250. The was on 11/19/08. Ever time I try the factory download, I get an equipment error no matter the printer is connected or not.
First download the software/drivers for the printer from the link below.

second sign in as administrator or your account may have those privledges already. during the install if there is a spot make sure that the printer is available to all users.
any other issues or it's still not working please leave a comment here ... i'll sort it out or someone more knowledgable then myself will.
One thing you may know off hand but might not have been asked. Is that a 64 bit operating system by chance... also designated as x64.
