Could be a faulty control knob.

It sounds like you may be experiencing an issue with your Kenmore stove's timer function. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Check the timer settings to make sure that the correct time and alarm settings have been entered.

Try resetting the timer by turning it off and back on again, or unplugging the stove and waiting a few minutes before plugging it back in.

Make sure that there are no buttons or knobs stuck on the stove, as this could cause the timer to activate repeatedly.

Sounds like the dial control on the timer board is bad, the only way to repair it is to replace the whole time board. Try a place called encompass parts. they are a distributor for Panasonic.

You really need to be sure it's not running by itself - even intermittently - because that can cause arcing damage, or even a fire.

If you're not sure, leave the door open or the oven unplugged until you're sure it's not or it's fixed.

You can keep a cup of water in it and check it hourly over the course of a day to see if it coming on and actually heating.

You may have an issue with the door switches, the door switch mounts (see my help files here, here, and here), or a sticking relay on the board, which I regularly repair.

You'll have to try to adjust the switches. Kind of hit and miss thing. You can usually get at them from taking the grill off the top then take the one screw out of the control panel on top. The you can see the switches where your door hooks go into. Try moving them around a bit. That's about all you can do. They really don't have a lot of adjustment. Hope that helps.

The control panel circuit board may need repair, and it's possible the low voltage transformer has failed.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

 

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
