It just means that you need to format a new card in the camera before it will work properly. Go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.
Bad news. The A345 will only accept up to a 1gb xd card. Here's a link to Fuji's camera/card compatibility chart. http://www.fujifilm.ca/x7970.xml Just highlight the address and paste it into your address bar.
try to change the mega pixel rating and see,,,, did you format the memory card initially before using that brand new?? also see if the storage is set to memory card and not to the main memory
The xD-Picture Card contact area is soiled
The xD-Picture Card is damaged
The xD-Picture Card format is incorrect
Camera fault
The manual offers the following under Remedy:
Wipe the contact area on the xD-Picture Card with a soft dry cloth. It may be
necessary to format the xD-Picture card
If the error message is still displayed. replace the xD-Picture Card.
Contact your Fujifilm dealer.
Try this site for a firmware update. You need to get a AC power adapter for it to work though. It is from Fuji and it worked fine for my A120. The older XD cards are of a different format then the newer ones so if your new XD card has an 'M' on it you will need to do the firmware solution.
Good luck http://www.fujifilm.ca/x3719.xml
Be sure you have formatted the card, not the internal memory (if the camera has that). Be sure your battery is fully charged, so that the device can fuly write the file. Be sure you are writing the file to the card, and not the internal memory, as there may not be enough space on it to write the file. If this does not resolve the problem, let me know.
According to Fuji you camera can only use cards up to 512 meg. Look here: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/accessories/card/index.html#compati Scroll down to find your model, then look across the row to where it says Yes, it's under the red coloumn 16 to 512 meg.
