Question about Husqvarna Garden

Hello! I have a Husqvarna YTH1746 mower with a hydrostatic engine. My problem is that when I shift it into gear (forward, reverse and now even neutral) I don't move. My belt is burning on the drive pulley and I don't know what happened. My father pointed out that I may have a bent piece on my transaxle. On the right side (while sitting on the tractor) on the transaxle there is a small piece that looks like a rotor on the bottom on towards the front of the mower. There is a metal piece sticking out right below it and it is touching the rotor piece. Could that be my problem? I have rebuilt a non hydrostatic engine before and just don't know much about this engine. Thanks!

If im understanding you right that piece is the part that turns the hydro rear end it sounds like you may have a stuck pulley

Has very little power in reverse.

How to fix Stuck in reverse Clutch is Fine.?
Have you tried checking the linkage to the hydrostat/transmission? Are you getting full movement of the lever? If not, it might have just come loose and shifted so you only have reverse. If you have full movement of the lever and the hydrostat has the proper amount of fluid it could be fried. It's hard to tell without diagnosing the linkage. I'd suggest blocking the rear wheels off the ground so you don't run over yourself before you go messing with the linkage.

I suggest following all the safety procedures suggested in the operators manual first!

I think theres 2 flow paths forward and reverse try checking the fluid level you may have to lower the rear end out of the machine or most all ridders ive seen allow you to take the backing plate off and then block the rear tires off the ground the fluid level should be about and inch from the top of the threads... if yours has a resivor off to the side with a breather fill it to the bottom of the threads... now that the fluid is full and up on blocks or jack stands start the engine and at an idle put it all the way forward to flush the bubles out this has to be done in small chunks 5 minutes forward and then laiter go 10 back let sit for 20 minutes in between and check the fluid level a couple of times to see if it whent down from this... best of luck hope this helped

Lawn tractor won't go forward or reverse
If the engine is running normally and the drive belt between the engine and the transmission is in good shape, most likely you have a failed hydrostatic transmission.

those fluid drive transmissions fail on quite a few brands as they all use the same ones....replace the trans...they are expensive but still cheaper than a new mower.

Husquvarna hydrostatic mower won't move
Sounds like the belt going to the hydrostate broke. Or a key on one of the pulleys broke. The belt runs inside of the frame and is hard to see.

Wont move forward or reverse-- transmission??
Does it have gears or a hydrostatic (automatic) transmission?

If it's a gear model, sounds like a loose drive belt.

If it's hydrostatic, it could be a belt problem or a problem inside the transmission. If it's a tranmission problem, this is not good. Many of the transmissions on riding lawn mowers are not serviceable - they are just replaced.

Husqvarna YTA18542 is running well, but only in reverse. I have checked all the fixes I could find, but was wondering about the release switch that disengages the transmission in order to move the mower by hand. Mine is very loose. It doesn't seem to pop in to place or out. Could this be causing the issue? Runs very well when running in reverse even when pressing the pedal forward. Great mower, just need a little help please.
