Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

To fix any you vacuum problem, a proper maintenance will do the trick. Most of the time cleaning the filters, checking for blockages and clearing the passageways, and cleaning the brush roll assembly will resolve this. And if after doing maintenance it is still the same, that replacing the parts will most of the time make your vacuum work like brand new.

You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson Vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

I have 2 dyson dc07. The cyclone assembly will not spin when dirt is picked up, but when I change them out the vacuum is fine, so I know it is the cyclone assembly. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum.

It sounds to me that you may have a clog but when you said you changed them out the vacuum is fine, so a couple of things, if the vacuum is still under a factory warranty of 1 or 2 years the cyclone assm still would be under a factory warranty. If it is over the 1 or 2 years then you would have to replace the cyclone assm but you may want to check with the Dyson Factory Tech Support / customer Service line as per the problem, and they can ship you the part from the factory or to check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and they may have one in stock or they can order one for you. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: no suction - Dyson vacuum

Hi If the Dyson is throwing out dirt at the back, it could be three possibilities:
1) The main floor head suction channel is blocked. Check the sole plate where the beater bar is, or if you have a cylinder/pull along model check the floor heads and main extension pipes.
2) Check all the inspection tubes especially the bottom part where the main handle hose is. Also check the filters are clean as well as the Cyclone shroud honeycombs are completely unclogged. Use of the upholstery brush is ideal for dust removal on the cyclones.
3) Check the main inspection areas on the Dyson as sometimes a back log of clogged dirt can get stuck. Also check the dust channel points when then bin is taken out.
Hope all this helps!

SOURCE: vacuum works but doesn't pickup dirt

there is a clog. check the hose, and the entry to the canister, check the holes inside the canister and check / clean your filter. also remove any threads/ animal hair from the brush so i can freely grab the carpet :)

SOURCE: I received a NEW dyson

This may sound silly, but it sounds like that you a have static electricity problem. If the dust is collecting on top (outside of the brush head that is probably the static attracting it. This is common during the colder months. You know how during these months when you walk across carpet and then just someone or a metal objest, you get a shock.
You might try lightly spraying a little "static guard" on the top of the brush head before using it, or using a carpet dusting product that smells good, and may reduce the static.

Why does my dyson now make awlful noise on the carpet setting

It might be the clutch. Mine did it because there was dirt stock in the end caps if the roller. Instead of the belt breaking a clutch kicks in and makes a loud flapping noise.

Best Upright Vacuum You Can Buy!!

Paying a high price for a vacuum does not translate into best performance. My daughter purchased a Dyson (over $700.00) and after considerable goading, she accepted the challenge I had posed. Clean her carpet with her Dyson until she was satisfied that it was clean and then use my Kenmore SensorClean (no longer available by that name and over 10 years old) over the same area and see the results for herself. After the test, she stated she could feel the difference on her bare feet and immediately purchased the Kenmore Elite Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner ($279.00). The Dyson is now collecting dust (on the outside). With a build-in fiber-optic dirt sensor, you don't have to guess when the carpet is clean, the vacuum lets you know via the lights. Its suction power is second to none, the extra long cord lets you cover more area without having to change outlets and the direct-drive means no belts. You have 30 days on any purchase to return it, so try it for yourself, you may soon be purchasing a new vacuum that is worth every penny.

Dirt is collecting in filter not in tube

Hi Deanna, it's Jack at Dyson.

Dyson cyclone technology is engineered to keep dust and debris away from the pre-filter. If a large quantity of dust is getting through to the filter, it sounds like part of the system is missing, or may have been replaced incorrectly.

To help us determine what may be causing this we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through a few quick troubleshooting checks over the phone, when you have your machine to hand. Please call the Dyson Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Best wishes,

Jack

My vacuum throws dirt out and hits my feet.

Hi Peggy,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. From what you described, it sounds as if your machine has a blockage. The filter may also need a wash.

Although I note you already took it apart, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure you haven't missed anything:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

In normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. We'd recommend using cold water without detergent. Leave the filter somewhere warm to dry, such as in an airing cupboard or by a radiator, for at least 12 hours, and make sure you don't replace the filter in the machine before it's totally dry.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

Shuts off in upright position and spitting dirt back out

it is a blockage. Dyson cuts off in this case to prevent overload. Also leaking dirt indicates blockage. Strip everything out you can. Remove foot plate on base and check for hair or fibre blockage. it may be small and in an odd place.. seek and ye shall find. If not, return to dealer for service. Good vacuum though.

Hoover Tempo Widepath Blows Dirt Out Back on Hard Surfaces

lots of times switching to hard surface floors you need to slow down because the air flow that does the actual picking up of the dirt can't work as fast as the spinning brush so the brush is throwing the dirt out the back before the suction can pick it up. Try slowing down
