You got suckered by the sounds of it.... if your freezer is working your fridge is fine as far as gas charge goes.... thermostat MAY have been faulty but I doubt it.... Your problem probably started a couple weeks ago when the drain that allows defrosted ice (water) to drain into the drain pan at the base of your fridge became plugged for some reason. Then everytime the fridge went on defrost more water melted but did not drain which in turn froze. Now ice has built up and caused the air that flows into the fridge to be blocked, causing a warm fridge.... my advice is to leave fridge unplugged for 48 hrs to thaw it and find the cause of the water not to drain... could be a corn niblet or pea from the freezer... the tube should be visible from the inside or the back

Fridge not working but freezer is. Why?

I presume it is a combined fridge/freezer. the reason for this is probably because it uses 2 compressors one for the fridge and one for the freezer. sounds like the fridge has lost its gas or the thermostat has packed in. turn the thermostat up and see if you can hear the compressor start up. if not then you will have to either replace the fridge freezer or get a repair person out to look at it.

Maytag admiral fridge freezer not cooling

Hello there,
If the refrigerators fridge and freezer is not cooling. You need to check if the temperature is set to the highest. Then you check if the thermostat is still working.
Then you check if the compressor and fan are running. If they are, then it simply means all you need is to refill the gas tank with some freon or refrigerant as you may know it by.

Belling bk29 fridge freezer. freezer working but fridge not working. compressor running, thermostat set to 5, light working ok, defrost switch off.

If there is no cooling at all on the fridge section but the freezer works then it is confirmed that the compressor and gas pressure is OK. Now shut off the fridge and leave it powered off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.
However if ice forms in the freezer then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked. Frost formation without defrosting could block the air flow and so shut the air passage to the fridge. Also the blower fan must work and if this is not working then the fan can be faulty. Also a fault on the control unit is a suspect to non functioning of any one of these components.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test using a multi-meter on the defrost timer and the thermostat and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

Maytag msd2641kew fridge side is not cooling its warm . freezer is still cold notice some of the ice look like it was starting to melt a litte. turned freezer up acouple of hours ago stuff is staying...

Sounds like a defrost problem, is there ice on the back wall of the freezer? If so the defrost system has failed. The most common repair is a Part# 67004757 defrost thermostat and adaptive defrost board Part# 67004704. Even with the parts in your hand, you will need to de-ice the freezer to replace the thermostat in the freezer section, then unplug unit to replace the adaptive defrost board located in the controls of the refrigerator section. Normally it can take about an hour to complete.
Good Luck

Freezer works fine, fridge compartment cools but has stopped cooling as good and has recently stopped cooling. did a manuel defrost on fridge and freezer worked fine afterwards, now doing the same thing...

Oncce the fridge was shut off and left for a while the cooling had come back . If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
If after about 6 hours you observe cooling it is possible that the defrost timer is faulty.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.
However if Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked.

replace the defrost timer, heater or thermostat one you have confirmed to eliminate one by one.

The fridge is not cooling!! The motor and fan are both making noises as though they are working and the freezer is working perfectly. I have turned the thermostat up to the maximum but still no cool air.

If there is no cooling on the fridge but the freezer is cooling then the compressor and gas pressure seems good. So to check the set for blocks in the ducts we must shut off the fridge.Keep it off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.

The fan making noise can be due to frost build up .If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
Do not set thermostat up to max but keep it to normal .So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

My hotpoint top freezer is not cold enough. The ice creams are all melted. I don't see any knob at the top for adjustment. There is a adjustment a the fridge level. I already turned it up to the hightest...

Let the level be set at midpoint and for a start put the fridge off for thsystem to come to normal , the compressor to reset. Now draina nd clean all the cooling coils inside the freezer unit. Look for visible wearing off wires or connection in the temperature sensors. Check lines to the timer, heater and the thermostat. remove panels to check . now clean the compressor contactor and aster all the panels are put back, restart the fridge. If the cooling returns then you willhave to wait and watch if the timer works to auto deffrost. if not replace. If the cooling is still bad then you must check for hte weeakness of the compressor, low pressure of gas. service and refill gas but I would recommend with a good help. Get extimate before you start he work and ask for time warranty for the work. Hope you work this out. Good day
