Types of filter lenses to use with DSC-F505 camera

As an up and coming buyer of the DSC-F505 camera, I would just like to ask the advice of any digi-cam experts here. As most of us already know, the DSC-F505 comes with Carl Zeiss lens, thus the first thing that comes to my mind when I buy it is "BUY SOMETHING TO PROTECT IT"... otherwise if anything does happens to the original lens, I could say bye bye to my new camera! Anyways, on to my question for anyone, what type of filter lens would you recommend me using with the DSC-F505? I do know there are quite a number of different types and brands of filter lens in the market. First and foremost, I would like advice on types of filter lens and their functions as well?? (ie. uv, polarizer, neutral-density, or whatever other types you would suggest?), and secondly, what brand name filter lens I should stick with??(why, why not, or it should not matter at all?) also, are there any drawbacks with attaching filter lens to the camera?? I was just thinking to myself that by adding additional lens to a camera that sports a "carl zeiss" lens system, it would therefore degrade the quality of the picture wouldn't it? BTW, just out of curiousity, if I was to add a filter lens to the DSC-F505, would I still be able to attach the lens cap back on the lens body when the filter lens is already attached to the camera?? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I bought a Hama skylight filter for the express purpose of protecting the lens. I've not noticed any degradation in image quality. Of course, ultimately the filter will block some of the light that's hitting the CCD, but it's so little as to not be noticeable. Being as the lens cap clips into the thread of the lens then yes, it does still fit perfectly into the thread of the filter, so no problem there!

Sony Cybershot Dsc-505

Are you sure it is your charger and not the battery? (Batteries)

You could buy a new Sony charger, but there are lots of universal camera battery chargers, that won't cost as much and you can use it for every battery from every camera. Pick the right one and you have a charger for years to come, whatever your new camera will be and how big or small the batteries are.

Trying to get a charger for my DSC-F505

Yes, you can get what you need on Ebay or Amazon.com. Ebay appears to be cheaper. When searching at eother place just type in the make and model in the search box.

It sounds like the drive letter that the camera wants is already assigned to another device. The link below will help you change the drive letter.

Using the Dsc - F505 as a Web Cam!?

I use my F505 as a webcam sometimes. Software you need can be downloaded from http://surveyorcorp.com/webcam32/ (supports simple FTP transfer of pictures to the webserver, or "direct" stream using an java applet connecting to your machine) You also need video input in your PC. Some (few) video cards can do this, or purchase a tv card (i am using haupauge). This all runs smoothly

F505 Battery

I think not. The FS11 is the sequel to the FS10, which was of lesser capacity. Their lineup is the FS11, FS21, FS31, each one being thicker and longer life.

DSC F-505 doesn't support Mac OS?

SInce the only storage option on the F505 is Memorystick, you would need a memorystick reader. Sony has a MemoryStick/PCMCIA adapter card that would fit in standard PCCard slots. Once the images are in your computer they are standard JPEGs. Go to the Cybershot forum on http://www.mavican.com and ask what the F55 Mac users do. It also uses only memorysticks.
