After holding down the DEVICE and MENU buttons for five seconds I got the following ...
One blink, two blinks, then a pause.

  • mahtyb Jul 21, 2011

Turned off TV. Held down Menu and Device buttons for five seconds and got the following indications.
1 blink, 2 blinks, a pause, and repeat several times.

    DVD - Component 1
    Satellite - DTV

  • mahtyb Jul 21, 2011

I've used it in this configuration for a while. I deleted the current configuration and rerun setup. I also pressed the A/V Reset button on the front of the TV to no avail. I'm still getting a fuzzy black and white picture.

  • mahtyb Jul 21, 2011

I feel comfortable repairing a PCB board and removing/replacing components. I have not received any feedback from another expert.

  • mahtyb Jul 21, 2011

I've replaced the capacitors so I'll check D2553 next. It'll take me a little while so I'll probably get back to you tomorrow.

  • mahtyb Aug 01, 2011

I found a bad diode on the DM board (not D2553). I have a new one on order and should get it by the end of the week. I'll solder it back in and update you then. Thanks.

  • mahtyb Aug 01, 2011

D9801 on the DM power board.

  • mahtyb Aug 07, 2011

Cables are fine and connected correctly. They are monster cables and I've been using them for years without a problem.

  • mahtyb Aug 07, 2011

Finally got a replacement diode with no luck. Same result. Will look around for D2553 and test it. I'm guessing that it's on the DM board itself and not the DM power board?

  • mahtyb Aug 07, 2011

More troubleshooting and playing with it led me to find out that only the inputs with RGB (component video) inputs aren't working. The video from my VCR (yellow RC jack only) works fine. When I plug in my DVD and Direct TV into that input they work find as well.

  • mahtyb Aug 07, 2011

It's working now. Not sure how I got it to work. Maybe cable configuration (I've unplugged and plugged it in several times) could be that it just got a reset somehow. Anyway, it's working now so thanks for all your help.

I suspect your fault is a common one and the convergance ICs have failed.

Is it showing any error code and have you tried entering the self test mode?

Turn the TV Off and let the Power Light go out

Press and hold both the Menu and Input Buttons on the front of the set at the same time for at least five seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will blink an error code. The most common is 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause, and then repeats several times.

Please let me know what you find.

This is the no error code. What inputs are you using for your DVD & Satellite?

  • Anonymous Jul 21, 2011

I think the first thing you need to do is to reset the Inputs to the Factory Settings.

Have you many many or any changes to these settings yourself?

Do you know how to do this using the individual Input Menus or to reset all Inputs using the A/V Reset on the front of the TV.

  • Anonymous Jul 21, 2011

Sorry but something I should have ask earlier is this something you've just set up or have you had and used it in the configration for a while?

  • Anonymous Jul 21, 2011

I suspect the fault then is with the DM Board although I'm having difficulty finding a service manual to confirm if this would need a total replacement or if it could be repaired.

Would you have the ability to repair a PCB yourself by removing and replacing components?

What feedback are you getting from your other expert?

  • Anonymous Jul 21, 2011

The only things I've been able to find relate to a faulty diode D2553, dry joints or broken track on the DM Board so probaly worth pulling it out and checking the capacitors while you've got it out.

  • Anonymous Jul 22, 2011

OK but make sure you check for any dry joints or breaks/damage in the PCB track.

  • Anonymous Aug 01, 2011

OK, I appreciate you keeping me informed how it's going. What Diode was it?

  • Anonymous Aug 02, 2011

Thanks, let me know how it goes.

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2011

I'm begining to wonder if your problem is with the outputs rather then the inputs on your TV. Is it the same on all 3 component inputs?

The tv works perfectly, even the 12 code tells you that. Your problem is in the connection between the sources and the tv - something is wrong with the cables or the way they are connected. Most likely the S-video or the Component cables are either damaged or incorrectly plugged in.
Use the RCA INPUT connections 1 and 2 (the yellow, red and white ones on the left): just pair them with the similarly coloured output connectors from the satellite box and the dvd. You won't notice the difference in the image quality if you use decent cables.

YELLOW TINT ON SCREEN MITSUBISHI TV MODEL WS 55313

The WS is a picture tube type rear projection first produced as a 2003 model year set.

A few questions and then a offer if needed.

Did this happen suddenly or after a power loss?

By reboot do you mean the recessed reset button on the front of the set?

I will presume if you turn color off completely the screen is some other color than black and white?

the offer: have you tried the Option menu this set has hidden, I can explain if needed.

Ws-65908

The fact that removing the front helps does not really means anything but is good that you have notice, the age of the set has a lot to do with the problem,I am sure it has many loose conections that need to be resoldered regarless, all sets have many components that disipate a lot of heat and over the years the solder cracks and it forms a ring ,this makes the set intermiatnt until no conection exist any more and it stops working for good. What does the unit do when it shutsdown? does it show a picture with lines that is red ,green or blue and then it shutsdown? or it just goes off? if it shows you a color like I mention it could be the picture tube of that color and the repair will be expensive but it could also be a loose conection somewhere in the power supply or the deflection panel,If you are familiar with repairs ot TV's you can possible take care of it but if you are not familiar with electronics call a qualified technician.I hope you can use this information.

Bad color

Turn the color level all the way down and see if you have a good black and white picture. If your screen isnt black and white it should have a predominate tint to it. then turn the screen control for that color down to achieve the best black and white picture. then adjust your color level that should help.

Projection red is above other colors

Look in your menu for something called "horizontal static convergence" or just "convergence". Adjusting this will align all three tubes electronically. If physical adjustment is needed, then you have to do this manually inside the Tv. keever
