I lost the remote to my Toshiba cz27t31. I bought an RCA universal remote. The RCA manual says the tv should be set to channel 1. But I can't change the channel without the remote. So I am SOL! How can I change the Toshiba channel to 1 without a remote? The channel buttons do work, but they skip over channel 1. It starts by skipping to channel 4 then channel 9, channel 11, etc. Is there a cheat using a combination of buttons on the tv/ that will let me get to channel1? Thanks!

U are using an RCA remote with Toshiba tv. You are lucky that it even turns the set on. You have different remote frequencies involved and need to use the Tosiba remote or a universal remote that will operate volume, channels and power.

The universal remote will have several possible codes that can be used to work your TV. If the one you have programmed in is not doing the job reprogram another code. If only one code exists then you have a remote that is not fully compatible with your set. Some of the universal have this issue. Some of the RCA set required a dedicated and locked in remote. You would have to contact RCA and tell them your model number and serial number to get another remote. Beware these can get really expensive. You have to hold the component button (TV) and enter the code from http://www.rca.com/codefinder. The SKU it asks for, on my RCR312W, was under the lid from the batteries. Hope it helps.

good day , what button can you see infront of your TV screen?

Not familiar with this model but if you'll manage to locate a button marked as "TV/AV" or "AV" press this button until it the display switch to A/V mode (audio/video). Or if this is a really old model, from Tuner mode or channel model. set the channel station to 1 then press the " - channel " button and see if it will change from tuner mode to A/V mode

using the menu button on the t.v. set an alarm for 1 min in the future. have the t.v change to channel 00 or the input channel @ that time. turn off the t.v and wait until the alarm turns the t.v on.

i have the same set i used a rca universal remote rcr311w i think its the oem one i bought two of them at walmart i don,t know if they still carry them
