Kodak Z740 all of a sudden wont import jpeg images to iphoto. Camera communicates with iphoto and will show photo info, but then an error code says it cant read the format and lists jpeg. I know its a camera issue, as I have done multiple things to confirm that. I can get the pics off the memory card with an external reader, but I want to know why my camera will not transfer the jpeg images on the card and the internal memory to my computer, so I can decide whether keeping the camera and buying an external reader is worth it or just getting a new camera. I love this camera, so I really want to keep it.

I'm having the same issue. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the naming structure of the kodak files. The error message say the file is an unrecognized file format .JPG is what kodak is using.

An external reader is the best solution. It will transfer the images way faster than using a cable connected to the camera. See if there is a setup option in your camera that chooses the SD card only for storing photos. If there is, then select it.

SOURCE: fix flash on kodak z740

to try if the flash is working..

*Turn off the camera.
*Install a set of new or fully charged batteries into the camera.
*Turn on the camera.
*Press the Flash Status button to scroll through the flash options until Fill Flash (the lightning bolt icon alone, with no other letter or symbol) is displayed. This forces the camera to use the flash.

If the flash of your camera will not work, refer to www.kodak.com/go/itg for interactive troubleshooting and repair

SOURCE: uploading pics to mac from SD card in camera

Have you tried using an external card reader?

They look similar to this at Wal-Mart:
http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/4794433/120257_Full.jpg

I own a mac and always use an external usb card reader to download my pics and it works great. Also, I know that you need to get your pics off first, but you may need to reformat you card at some point so that it will read faster and work quicker in your camera.

For your software issue, have you tried download the software from kodak's website? The program shouldn't cause your apple to crash. I would try re-installing it from there website.

Fixing your problem could be as simple as cleaning the battery contacts in the camera, or the solution could be a lot more complex and expensive. Here's a link to the Kodak Help Center - it provides a simple Q&A format to diagnose the problem and propose a solution.

Create a folder on your desktop and download the pics to that. It usually works. If it doesn't, find a store (like Walmart) that has a Kodak picture maker machine. It will read all the pictures on your card.

I have a Macbook Pro laptop, OSX 10.9.5. The iPhoto software will not download raw files from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50 digital camera. iPhoto downloads the jpeg files fine.

Sadly the likelihood is now that iPhoto is deprecated, there's going to be no way to do it directly. However, you could try using Adobe's DNG Converter software (free download - yay!) and then see if iPhoto will import those. Because raw files differ from camera to camera and manufacturer to manufacturer, software companies periodically issue new raw interpreters for their photo software. Since iPhoto is defunct, Apple aren't doing this any more. Have you tried Apple's Photos instead? You may need to do a system update to achieve this as 10.9.5 is pretty old now.

Pro photographers avoid this very common problem by always using a diskreader. You've found that this method works very well so stop worrying and enjoy. As far as the problem with the pics on the internal memory of the camera, go into the menu and find "copy". It will give you the option to copy the internal memory to a memory card.

Why can't I upload my photos from my finepix s1500 onto my mac? It opened the files in my iphoto but they showed up as blank boxes and "Error downloading images - iPhoto cannot import your photos...

Is this a new problem - that is, did it work in the past? Are you trying to import jpeg or raw?

First thing is to see if it is iphoto or the camera that has a problem.

Try uploading the images to another computer (try a PC - not that it is better, but PC is different). If the images can be seen & read there, the images are likely fine and iphoto may need an upgrade to read the format from the finepix s1500. Alternately, try copying the photos from your memory card (use a memory card reader) to your hard disk. See if another application can see the images (even use a word processor to import image), or e-mail the image to yourself and then use your web-browser to see the image.

If the camera images can't be read by multiple computers/multiple readers, then it may be that your memory card is corrupted.

Does this camera work with macs OS X 10.5. I am able to download picts into iPhoto, but they won't stay there, they disappear. I have kodak c813 easy share.

When you connect your camera to your mac, iPhoto may open up and display the photos from your camera on screen (look to see that the camera is shown in the lefthand sidebar in iPhoto). However, the photos are not stored on your computer until to click 'Import'. After import, your photos are copied into the 'iPhoto Library' and now stored on your mac.To find them click on 'Events' or 'Photos' from the Library menu on the left sidebar.
If you are still having trouble copying your photos from your camera. Try using the 'Image Capture' app in the Applications folder to transfer photos from a camera.

Kodak easyshare Z740 compatible with mac? Since I've upgraded my MAC software to 10.6.6 EasyShare does not down load images from my camera. what's up?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Can't upload videos to Imovie

Kodak series cameras capture videos in MOV files. iMovie will only import codecs that it can edit. iMovie can import MP4, DV, Apple Intermediate Codec, H.264, Photo JPEG, Motion JPEG, Apple Animation, and perhaps others. MOV is a multimedia container file, not a codec. It can contain any of the above codecs, but it could contain other codecs that are not editable by iMovie, such as MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 so that sometimes iMovie cannot recognize Kodak videos directly.
please try this video converter, good luck. kodak video to imovie

Can't get pics to my mac computer, won't transfer.

When you get the popup from iPhoto don't click on any iPhoto buttons. Instead, click on command+tab and change to your Finder application (leaving iPhoto open in the background).

1) Create a new folder on your Desktop or in your Pictures folder. This is where you will copy your photo files.

2) Click on File, then New Finder window. Size these finder windows so you can see both of them at the same time. In the second window, go to your computer, and then to the drive that represents the memory card in your camera.

3) Drag and drop to copy the files from the camera's memory card Finder window to the new folder Finder window, dropping the files into the new folder on your computer's hard drive.

4) Use command+tab to change back to iPhoto. Cancel from the import warning window. In iPhoto click on File then Import to Library

5) In the import dialog tell iPhoto to move the photos (not to import them in their current location) so that iPhoto puts the photos in the same place it put your other photos when it imported them directly from the camera.

If you can't do all of these steps, tell me how far you got, and what happened.

Decode error! JPEG datastream contains no image.

Kodak has software that should be able to make sure those pictures are in JPEG format. Id use that at first instead of a third party program. Picture It! does some funny things to pictures and Microsoft discontinued that product line several years ago.

Here is a link to download it

There is a firmware upgrade too on this page. You should install that into your camera as well.

Photos wont open

There seems to be a corruption of file type between camera and computer The fact that the computer wont play mov. but the camera will if back loaded seems odd. JPEG files can and do go wonky if back loaded to camera after editing because essential info for the camera has been deleted. A JPEG file as produced by a camera is properly called an EXIF file because has has EXtendedINformation. Lose it and the camera wont know it. Like wise older PC's such Win 98 and older software don't know about EXIF so they chop it off So something like that is happening here. Check out Tech Support at Kodak see what they can tell you.
