SOURCE: Brother 2003D jammed

i am not familiar with the brother safety device myself. however things i would check might be to first check the manual for the machine. if not available try to turn the machine off if it is electronic in hope that it would reset itself. i would also totally unthread the machine and change the needle. embroidery machines need to have needles changed more often due to their high speeds. What type of fabric were you sewing on? Some of the newer machines are just not made to sew on very heavy fabrics and this might be causing something in side to spring. Try to stitch on a lighter fabric with a stabilizer under it

SOURCE: Brother 270D Jams when sewing anything

You might have thread caught in the take-up lever linkage and it has soaked up all the oil my recommendation would be take it to your local dealer

SOURCE: the safety device has been activated

Turn off the power supply and open the needle plate.

Remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the shuttle and surrounding area from any lint or thread that may have accumulated during use.

If the problem continues, the machine will need to be serviced by a Brother dealer.

My 500D hadthe fault the safety device has been activated. It made an awful grinding noise just before and then the warning came up, now the needle won't move and the hand wheel doesn't turn.

If the safety device has been activated, something is seriously wrong with your machine that could be a hazard. Take it for service.

Error message "the safety device has been activated. Is the thread tangled? Is the needle bent?" Occurred after needle no 5 broke and fell out. The machine

If the safety has been activated, there is something wrong with the machine that could potentially be dangerous--to the machine or you. You should probably take it to a technician.

Safety device been activated. baby lock elegant 2

When a safety issue has been activated, it generally means that it should be taken to a technician. In other words, the machine has a fault that prevents it from functioning for the safety of the user.

Machine locked up with needle down in the machine

If you can, try to remove the needleplate and the bobbin case from the machine. Once the bobbin case is removed, the needle should be free.

Safety Device Activates but no error message

It sounds like there may be something inside the machine. This happened to me twice. The first time was the wrong stabilizer. The second time I had a piece of thread inside the machine. When I opened it to see the thread was activating the error beep in the machine. I hope it helps.

Messages about safe device activated & press the needle position button

The noise is because the machine is trying to raise or lower a needle and can't move. Several things to check. Did the needle break and jam in the bottom thread? Is the needle bent or jam? Did the thread jam in the bobbin area? I had a 'knot' of thread build up on the bottom and it hooked itself into the metal clip on the bobbin so that the needle couldn't raise. If thread jams in the bottom carefully cut the threads until you can free the hoop and material. Then check to make sure all pieces of thread and fuzz has been removed in the bobbin case. If it happens again check to see if the bobbin case or the throat plate is scratched or bent. If you are stitching Free Standing Lace on this machine or a piece with over 20,000 stitches I recommend starting with a new full bobbin and a new needle. As you get toward the bottom of the bobbin, thread seems to have a high likelihood of tangling or looping.

The safety device has been activated.

It is under warantee for 12 months, so I would recommend you phone the dealer to arrange for them to have a look at it.....if you have any samples of sewing, take them too.
