Depending on the quality of finished CD you need, you may not need a sound card. Get a stereo 1/8 mini plug audio adapter with RCA jacks on the other ends. Be sure you are using a turntable with a pre-amplifier or buy an outboard pre-amp from MCM electronics. (MCMelectronics.com). Connect the turntable output to the RCA jacks on the 1/8 stereo adapter. Plug the 1/8 plu into the microphone jack on the Mac. (May also work with a Windows machine). Go to sound preference and select "line in" under input. You may need a free audio capture program such as Audacity, which will record whatever sound your mac is playing. Record. Connect an audio cassette player output the same way, but no pre-amp is needed. I have dubbed Walkman type players by simply plugging into the 1/8 headphone jack on the player, and the other end into the microphone input on the Mac. Not the best quality, but may be OK for most non-critical dubs. Second solution. More expensive. Get a USB audio adapter, anywhere from $6 to $85. Plug your RCA cord into the input from the audio source and connect the adapter to the USB port. Select appropriate input source from the sound preferences panel on the Mac. Be sure to select the box marked “play output through speakers” in order to monitor the audio. By the way, Audacity offers some sound editing and special effects, all for free. Download it and try it.

Get a computer with an audio input or soundcard. Like a Mac with garageband and a soundcard. connect both with a male 1/8" to male 1/8" cable. Press play on the tape deck, record on the computer. Once done, edit and trim the beginning and end. Import to itunes. Create a playlist. Burn to cd. Simple.

Google com

There are several ways to do this. It will somewhat depend on what type of laptop you have (PC or Apple) as to what software it uses and how it is done. You can find some videos on Youtube on converting (like the one below) or click on the blue link for another explanation.

I CANT RECORD CASSETTES ONTO A FLASH DRIVE

You can't. Cassettes are analog and the USB only recognizes MP3. The USB will only record off a normal CD or a CD with MP3s on it. It won't record other formats. The unit only allows to record from CD to cassette or from CD to USB. There are some cassette decks that will convert to MP3. Just do a search for "cassette to MP3 converter"
