Get a usb wifi stick and plug it in and see if finds the drivers and if it does try to connect to the internet. if it does it has solved one problem that it might be the hard drive is getting bad and will not read the drivers of the hard drive and if so it might be time to replace the hard drive with a SSD and it will make the comptuer faster and will last longer than the old hard drives. and or have to replace the wifi card.

Please try using Wireless 'G' mode only in the router. Also, try using 'TKIP' and not TKIP+AES for encryption.
Please rate this solution, if it works for you.

Have you got permission to connect into her Internet using her wireless router?
If so you need to get the WPA encryption key from her to configure your wireless card's encryption to get access.

You may not have found the right security setting. Most wireless routers have a Wep key encryption, Number they come programmed with. It is usually one the BOTTOM of the router. WHen you connect to your Network look for a prompt to enter your Wep Number and it should then work.
You may not have put in the correct DSL Password etc etc and this can be a royal pain in the **** !
THRUST ME DUDE:
Installing these Routers is not such a simple matter and if you are still having problems call their Customer Service Line ... You may have missed something or have to resert someting in the Router and Really it's nothing to be ashamed of if you have to cry HELP to the Indian or Filippino that Answers your call hehe. I have a Ph.D. in Comp Sci and still find it necessary to call when installing them. Linksy's Techs are well trainned and if anything know these Routers inside out; some of the stuff is propriatary and they are the only ones that can help....just call Dude, Give up! Not worth the Stress! You'll Live to Fight another day :) !!

If your wireless router is configured with SSID, encryption, MAC address filtering (if enabled) etc. then the Dell wireless card needs to be configured with these settings to allow it to communicate with the wireless router.
Check the settings on your PC's wireless settings, and configure the Dell the same way.
