First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter. If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again. If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop. If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether
if i read this right, when you power up the laptop you get fan spin but no display ?, if you just get fan spin and the green power light and nothing else the you have a motherboard failure, if you get LED activity and it seems to be working but you only have no display the its more likely LCD failure, if you DO get activity try this : power off the system, press power button while holding down the D key, this will run the LCD BIST SELF TEST which will run through full colour screens if fails this test you will et a beep code, please bear in mind you will only be able to run that test if you get LED activity, if you dont have activity then the motherboard needs replacing
Based on the symptoms (Power light on cord is on when not connected to laptop but goes out as soon as you plug it in), the motherboard has to be replaced. YOu may call dell to ask about their out-of-warranty depot or you can call their spare parts sales dept to purchase the motherboard, then find a local tech to replace it.
Try disable, then re-enable the driver, if still no luck, try to locate the wireless adapters properties an check to see if all is in order, ch, SSID, everything must match to the wireless signal. (by the way where is the signal coming from ?) your router ? or else where ?
The power connector within the laptop maybe broken. Not sure about Dell's but many laptops have only solder points holding the internal power connector to the motherboard. With too much agitation, the internal power connector becomes loose and then broken.
More info will help, does a light show on the laptop when it is plugged in? Have you tried removing the battery and lettting the laptop sit for about 10 mins, without any power? Have you re-seated the ram?
