USB Connection problem Optio S4

Can't get my Optio S4 to establish a virtual drive on my PC (Win98SE). Drivers load ok, PC recognises camera properly, but no virtual drive appears. Camera is running firmware v1.0. Tried it on XP, still no joy.

Have you turned the camera ON after connecting the cables? Next, does this USB port on the computer work with other USB devices such as memory sticks? My O555 has a USB socket that feels really "fragile" and I fear I will damage the socket with improper insertion (alignment seems touchy). I bought an external USB card reader and am really happy with that. You don't use up battery power transferring your files. Much better solution, IMO.

Where can I find usb driver for camera pentax optio S4 and windows7

Consider NOT using a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

How to install drivers in windows 98 SE loaded win98 in a new PC, need all updates, drivers, etc.

why win98se? I was a fan of win98se but ...

all drivers for winMe are ok.
use google with "MBcode win98se drivers download" . You may try with winme instead win98se . You'll encounter problems if your mb is very old and you need to properly install isa cards .

win98se,mb drivers, sound, video, lan in this order. dont forget that win98se accepts drivers from 95/98/ME . Them must have the inf file . I liked to made manual instalation of every drive (update driver, browse to location of inf file....).
