When I turn my phone on, it freezes on the start-up screen and doesn't offer any further options

Without knowing too much about this particular unit, I'll make one suggestion. When it does work, see if you can find a reset option in your setup options.

After selecting 1, type in the date mm/dd/yy (it doesn't appear on the screen) then press hold/save. Then type in the time again it won't appear on the screen press hold/save. It will then return to the main screen with the correct time and date. Hope this helps.

Download a free Antivir product and check your phone thoroughly: looks like you've got a virus. If that doesn't help (sometimes it doesn't) try to 'Factory reset' and as a very first thing download Antivir which will protect your device

throw that phone away and do not buy any htc phones they are all junk and htc comp cant seem to fix the prob

HI.Let me just clarify that when you try to download file it freezes?

If your phone is working correctly, you just plug the phone into the docking station, no extra steps necessary. If, however, the app that runs the docking station thing that comes up is having issues, it'll freeze the phone. If restarting the phone doesn't fix it, then you'd need to perform a hard reset, which would delete everything on the phone. If you want to do this, back up all your data, turn the phone off, and then hold down the down volume key and the power button. After a few seconds, a screen with 3 skateboarding Androids will show up. Once it loads, a menu will show up, with one of the options being "CLEAR STORAGE". Use the volume keys to highlight it, and use the power button to select it. It will then ask if you want to delete all user data. Press the volume up key to do so. Once the phone starts back up, it will be back to the state it was at when you bought it. Set the phone up, put it in the dock, and if it still freezes, you're going to need to take it to a Sprint store to have them either fix or replace the phone. Be sure to remove the SD card if they end up replacing it, as the new phone will not come with one.

If your on screen keypad is not working try shutting down any apps that might be taking up available memory.
If it still doesn't work, try restarting your phone.
Further still you can attempt a factory reset if it still does not work.

Yikes, that's never good, I would take another step further to help it. Power off the phone, take apart the phone as much as you can (battery pack, etc...) And bury it in dry rice for 24 hours at least. Try that first. If that doesn't work, the next option is to call a local phone tech. Is the phone still under warranty? You can also call your service provider of the cellphone company to give you some more options.
