This is a problem with the carriage rod. Try to lubricate the rod with a little silicon grease to make it move freely. Normally it happens after some usage that the grease provided on the rod by the company dries up. Do not put more grease as it may drop on the circuit boards.

Chek paper size (A4, letter...etc)in driver options and compare it whit your file settings (fo example - you trying to print something whit paper size A4 but printer expect letter format...etc)
Clean paper feed roller
Hi,
your description indicates you need to thoroughly check printer for any bit of paper ........rolller too has to be checked so that paper is moving smoothly ......
Sounds like there is something jammed in the paper feeder, or maby its the paper feeder itself.
Check to see if the path the paper follows through the feeder is completely clear.
Sometimes paper is left in the feeder from previous paper jams.
