How do I change the water pump on my commercial ice machine?

If the machine is a small self contained unit it is normally on the right side of the unit next to the water pump. It has two wires (usually red and black) encased by a grey cover.

put switch into the "wash" mode. if water pump comes on, replace the switch.

check for a stuck float switch. located near the water pump. Usually white plastic with a tube on top and a black boot at the bottom. Tap on it lightly while unit is filling with water. If that works, you need to disasseble and clean.

If you have the switch in the "Ice" position and the water pumps never comes on, but the pump runs in the "wash" position, it is most likely the switch itself. Seen this many times. Weird condition and most techs will replace the board first and not check the switch. Start there.

you can replace the housing only, Check with your local Hoshi supplier for parts. Start there as a new pump is very pricy.

Change the float (water level)

adjust the float (White plastic with black rubber bottom) item next to the water pump. It needs to be all the way down. Loosen the 2 screws and slide it down all the way. This is what controls the size of the ice cube. Other possibility is that there is water leaking our of the sump causing and early harvest cycle to start. Look for both.

Check the condenser if it is restricted in any way it will decrease ice production. Check for water overflow from the sump. Any more water than necessary entering the sump will also cause a decrease in ice production.

seems that its low on water or float switch is bad. try to clean float
