SOURCE: how to remove the back

First you need to determine if the watch is a snap back type or a screw back. If the watch back has a series of equally spaced slots (usually about 6) around it's perimeter, then it is a screw back and you will need a special tool in most cases. You can sometimes remove a screw back using a pair of snipe nose pliers in two of the slots, but unless the watch can be mounted safely in a small vice then this is quite difficult. The back from snap back watches can be removed with a blunt pen knife. If you look carefully around the edge of the watch casing you should see a small indent in the cover. This is where you start with the blunt pen knife, working your way around the edge twisting the knife gently as you go. Eventually the back will snap out of the watch casing

What is the battery size for fossil blue am-4090

From the Fossil website

https://www.fossil.com/en-us/******/how-to-change-a-watch-battery

However.....

Tip & How-To about Watches

Changing Watch Batteries
Lots of posters ask "what is the battery in my (name of watch)" with a view to changing it yourself. This is a bad idea for many reasons. You don't have the tools or knowledge to remove a rotary screw on back, or the gasket sealant for a waterproof watch. Some fashion watches have 4 traditional screw and need professional grade jeweler screwdrivers. Also, there are about 20 batteries commonly used in watches, in various sizes and internal technology, Lithium Ion, Silver Oxide and Manganese Alkaline. If you buy them, you generally have to buy 10!

Don't sweat the details. Just take the watch to your local jeweler. They have all the batteries at hand and the tools to remove the back. It is done whilst you wait for $8 to $15!

Fossil ch2360 can not figuare out how to get to the battery

mcdevito75 here, Most Fossil Watches have a press fit back cover. First locate ant tab, or indentation that is on the back cover linning up with the case itself, Carefully use a steak knife under that tab or in the indentation, slot in the cover abd pry up. From there you may need a jewlers screwdriver to loosen the battery hold down plate to remove the battery. BEST BET, look for a small watch repair shop in your area to change the battery.

I have a fossil watch model fs4255 leather strap dress amber dial and I want to open back to remove old battery and replace with a new. i have a watch repair tool kit and replace all my own watch batteries...

mcdevito75 here, Even with the proper tools we still have to improvise at times, Instead of useing your case opener from your tool kit, use a steak knife or similar with a sharp edge inside that groove you"ve described, the cover will pry off.
