If the fixmbr command detects an invalid or non-standard partition table signature, the fixmbr command prompts you for permission before rewriting the MBR. check the Boot order in the BIOS and make sure that is isn't set to Boot from LAN or Network first as the error "PXE *** Media Test Failure" ( where *** refers to the NIC card ID )
does in fact refer to a pc that is trying to Boot from the LAN or Network first.
If your boot order is set to boot from your Hard Drive first then I would suspect a bad Hard Drive.
Reboot your computer.
This is necessary, as entering the BIOS utility requires that you be outside of your normal operating system.
Press the key indicated during the startup messages to enter the BIOS.
This is traditionally either the "Esc / Delete" or of the "F2" key, but it can be anything, so pay attention to the screen as your computer loads up.
Navigate through the BIOS menu screens, using the arrow keys navigate to advanced bios features press enter to which device has been set to boot from.
using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults this will change the boot order press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
