SOURCE: overflow

check to see that nothing is blocking the drain drop, you most likely have something in it as that would be the only thing that could do it.make sure the drain is open and not sticking

If your in a hard wayter area the basket overflow valve may be need cleaning. Fill with white vinegar and run a full cycle. Rinse by running 2 or 3 cycles with clean water. You may need to repeat the vinegar cycle if the problem persists.

Here is the SOLUTION(S):
1. Buy a sprayhead that restricts the flow2. Let the water flow through for a few minutes, then lift the lid while it flows through.3. Don't use Decaf4. Plug up a couple holes on your current spray head

Why does water stay in basket and overflow?

What kind of paper filters are you using?I found that when I used store brand paper filters in my 12 cup Mr. Coffee I had a similar problem. They are thicker or something (less porous perhaps?) and the water doesn't pass through it fast enough.
When I went back to the more expensive Mr. Coffee filters the problem went away.

Good Luck

Every time I make coffee the filter basket overflows. I am using the correct filters but it seems the filter does not drain out as fast as the hot water is entering it, therefore collapsing the filter in...

It's a drain p[roblem and/or the part that drains into the caraffe is not aligned properly. Also check the hold that the coffee should be going into and make sure it doesn't have build-up blocking it.

Water not filtering quick enough, basket overflows

Make sure your sprayhead is the proper one (5 hole) and in good shape. Also make sure that the hole on your filter basket has not been partially closed. This can happen if you set it on the hot warmer. As a last resort, you can slightly enlarge the hole in your filter basket.

Keeps spilling over during brewing

These tanks can't actually be overfilled since all water poured in displaces the exact same amount of water coming out the spout. So, whatever amount of water you pour in, will be the same amount of water that flows to your pot minus the amount absorbed by the coffee grounds and filter.

Your problems sounds like an undersized (Non Bunn) filter, or clogged brew basket. To verify this, try pouring in only half the water for your brew cycle and wait for it to finish dripping, then pour in the rest. If no overflow has occurred, you simply have the wrong type of filter. If overflow begins again, you have a clogged brew basket, since no Bunn can flow too fast for the brew basket to keep up with it.

This is because Bunn filters are manufactured differently than generic store bought paper filters. They will flow faster, brew cleaner and stand up better than normal generic filters.
Remember, Bunn makes their OWN filters for good reason.
They made the first, best paper filters for drip coffee pots, and all others are just generic dioxin gas producing paper.

Over running, doesnt drain thru filter as fast as its pumping in

Sometimes this happens if you use filters that are too thick for the brewer. If you are using Bunn filters andthis keeps happening , up above your filter basket, there is a sprayhead. Turn that off, and look at it to see if it is plugged up.If there is no sprayhead, then that could cause your filter basket to overflow, as too much water will be coming into the basket too fast.

OVER FLOW

The Bunn needs Bunn filters because they are thinner and let water through faster. The cheaper filters will overflow. Bunn's claim to fame is fast...this is just part of the fast process.
