The Canon PowerShot SD400 has no internal memory. All pictures are recorded on a memory card.

Accidentally deleted pictures from camera, but dont know if they were on memory card or not.possibly just from internal memory, can they be retrieved?

Sure, they can be recovered if they are not overwritten. You can use photo recovery software like Card Data Recovery. it can help you recover deleted photos from digital camera internal or external memory card.
This program has two versions separately provided for Mac and Windows users. You can download the program from here:
Card Data Recovery for Windows
Card Data Recovery for Mac

Can't get internal memory full message to go away. anybody know how to get this to go off (aside from erasing the few pix on the cameras memory).

Hello

Basically the only other option is to copy the photos from the internal memory to your computer. Once you have copied it, you will need to delete it.

If you insert a memory card the photos will automatically be saved on the card, and not the internal memory.

You can try the following procedure, but the option is not there for all the models. This will basically copy the photos from your internal memory to the card:

insert card> turn on cam to auto> press review> "reading memory card" > press menu> scroll down to image storage> press ok to select> select INTERNAL MEMORY> press ok

scroll down to COPY> Copy pictures to memory card> scroll down to all> press ok
message to expect: "copying"

Hope this can be of help. Do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards

Canon PowerShot SD400 No memory card message, but there is a memory card installed. Tried multiple memory cards and got the same message. Made sure the memory card was locked.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link. By the way, if you're using 4GB or larger SDHC cards, they won't work with the SD400 as that camera was made before SDHC came out. Consider 2GB or less standard SD cards only. They're very inexpensive these days on Amazon..

I have a Fiji Finepix Z20fd camera, and have approx 350 photos on the memory. Yesterday the message "memory full" appeared when i tried to take a photo so naturally i attempted to delete a some to make...

Having pics on both the internal memory and a memory card is asking for trouble. Take out the card and download the internal memory to your computer. Then, go into the menu and find "format" and erase the internal memory. Then, download all the pics from the memory card using a separate card reader. Then, insert the card into the camera and do the format thing again to erase and optimize the card. Now you have a fresh start...never use the internal memory again.

Number of photos

You can't get room for more than 33 pictures on a 16MB card.
I'd suggest you buy a bigger SD card for the camera.
Your camera can use up to 2GB cards.

Canon ixus 50 unable to delete photos from card

If the card is a removable memory card, take it out and use a adapter on your computer.  Format the card on your computer then put it back into your camera.  It should be ok after formatting on PC.

Deleting photos of my camera

Your camera creates folders on the SD card to hold the images. It puts about 100 images in each folder. (See page 111 in the User Guide.) When you erase images, it may only be erasing the images in one folder. But your computer still sees the images in the other folder(s). To completely erase all images, use the "Format" function (see pages 25 - 26 in the User Guide). To completely clear it, use the Low Level Format option. You can download the User Guide here.
