Nikon d200 won't accept any memory card. I had in a SanDisk Ultra II 1.0GB which had been working perfectly. I tried to replace it with a SanDisk Ultra 4GB. The camera didn't accept the new card, and wouldn't accept the old card either.
Actually, since posting the question, I got the camera repaired. The pin was indeed broken, but I was able to get the pin unit replaced for much less than buying a whole new camera.Actually, since posting the question, I got the camera repaired. Maybe it is having trouble with the size of the memory. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. It is often difficult to find out the maximum capacity a camera will use, as today's memory cards are much larger that those available when the manuals for the camera was written.
When you removed the card from the computer, did you remember to use the "safely remove hardware" function? You are formatting the card in the camera, right?
This is because the Coolpix 2100 and 31000 models cannot handle a card
of that large a capacity. As it's only a 2MP camera anyway it doesn't
need it.
The Coolpix 2100/3100 will usually accept up to a 512MB
CF card, and 1GB Lexar CF cards up to and including the 24x WA write
accelerated (although write acceleration itself offers no benefits on
this camera). With Sandisk only a plain old and now obsolete SDFB
allows a 1GB card to be used and the regular Sandisk Ultra (not Ultra
II or later) will only work up to 512MB.
The camera was
discontinued long before these much larger CF cards were released and
Nikon no longer actively support the product so no firmware updates
will be available. The hardware wouldn't support such cards anyway.

I use a Nikon D300 and have Sandisk Compact Flash memory cards. i ahve not come across this problem but would suggest that you insert the memory card into your camera and reformat the memory card. This should clear any errors in the system BUT IT WILL ALSO WIPE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS YOU AHVE TAKEN when formating the memory card.
If that didn't solve your issue, you may have to go to an authorized Nikon dealer to have the camera reset. The internal battery cannot be serviced by untrained persons. I would also suggest that going forward, you carry your camera inside your coat when you're outside in cold weather, since electronics are easily damaged (especially software) by frost and / or water vapor which can very easily damage parts of your camera (hardware and software) in any weather.
