Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Check to door switch at the top of the freezer door hinge (left) and make sure the switch is being actuated when the door is closed. If you have ice production and only the water in door is not working then the most likely failure is the inlet water valve solenoid for the water in door only. There are 2 solenoids. 1 for the ice maker and 1 for water in door. If the water in door solenoid has failed you will have ice production but no water in door. The only remedy is to replace the inlet water valve. The are not repairable. If both water in door AND the water in door functions have ceased the most likely suspect is the door switch.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Changed filter and now water flow is limited

If the water shutoff valve has a seal like a faucet instead of a saddle valve it's possible a piece of it has broken off and is partially blocking the water line to the fridge. Check the line to see if you can see it or disconnect the line at the inlet to see if the filter screen is plugged.

After replacing the cartridge, the water flow is extremely poor. After calling GE, I was told I may have a bad filter. Hope not at the price per filter they charge. Is there any other solution? Is it...

The GE GXRLQR is the correct *replacement* filter for the following "Smartwater" single stage filtration and exterior refrigerator icemaker systems:
  • GE GXRLQ
  • GE GX1S50F
  • GE GQ1S50F
This filter is rated for only 750 gallons / 6 months of use (typical fridge with ice maker & water service). Most home faucets will deliver about 6 gallons / minute which roughly translates to about 2 hours of running water.

The GE FQSLF works with the following for the following Dual Stage Under Sink filtration systems:

  • GE GQSL55F
  • GE GXSL55F
Because there are 2 filters, they will last nearly 2x as long as the GE GXRLQR. and would likely be better suited to serving a faucet which will pass much more water than a fridge ice maker & chilled water dispenser would.

The real question is: Which GE filtration SYSTEM (not filters) do you have?

I have changed the filter but now not working properly

A clogged intake or impeller will still try to suck in water, but will only make noise and actually do nothing, where as a filter with a clogged motor won't turn on at all. The solution to a clogged motor is fairly simple. Just open up the filter, take it apart piece by piece, and unclog it. If you need to, you can use your hands, use lightly compressed air, or if the motor itself is water proof, just blast some water through the motor.

One of the most common problems that people experience with their fish tank filters is that there is a loss of suction, or no suction at all. You see, fish tank filters use something called an impeller that is motor operate. This impeller serves to suck water from your fish tank into the intake tube, through the filter media, and back out the other side in the form of perfectly clean water.

Another pretty serious problem that many people experience with their fish tank filters is that there is an improper flow rate. Now, this is not actually a problem with the filter itself, but it does affect your fish. You see, different fish need different water flow rates, with some liking a heavy flow to swim against and some which can't handle fast flowing water and just get swept around the tank.

Whatever the case may be and whatever the solution to your fish tank filter problem is, you need to take care of it as soon as possible. Without proper filtration your water will suffer from a buildup of waste, chemicals, and toxins, plus it won't be properly oxygenated either, all things which can rather quickly lead to the unfortunate demise of your fish.

Hello, my ice maker is not producing ice, also, there is no water flow for cold water. I checked the water connection, it is charged. Can you recommend a solution pls.? My fridge is a HotPoint...

What about water filter? Is clogged? It is located in fresh food side in back righthand upper corner. also the holder me be bad. You can bypass the filter assembly By going in back of fridge. Hook incoming water to water valve to test. I hope this helps.

Fridge water filter replaced now flows very, very slow

Hi .. first I would try and eliminate the filter as the problem. Remove the filter and try the water again. If the water flows strong, then the filter is the problem. If the water stills sputters and is low flow, then there is a partial blockage in the internal tubing , or a problem with the supply. If you roll the fridge out to get at the suppl. you could shut it off and disconnect the supply tube from the fridge, then turn the water on slowly to check the flow at the supply. If the flow is good there , then the blockage is internal.

Low water pressure is diminished after replaced 2 filters in a month. plumber tested to see if water is fully flowing.

Does this mean that you are now having the right pressure? Since the filters are changed, water should
now flow. Is it all systems go?, that is assuming that
your pipelines are not clogged.

I have a 3 year old kenmore fridge withfreezer on the bottom and water in the door. The water only trickles out even ater replacing the filter. What's wrong?

It sounds like the water tap from the source is clogged, or the vinyl tubing running from the water source is crimped somewhere. I would check the tap first to make sure the valve is not clogged. You close the valve clockwise ,then remove the tubing. Have a bucket handy. Open the valve counterclockwise a little at a time until water started to drip. Place the bucket under the valve to catch the water. Open the valve a little more and let the water go into the bucket. Do this until you are satisfied that the tap valve is not clogged. If this does not solve the problem then check the tubing to see if you have crimps in the line. Then close the tap valve clockwise down tight. remove the tubing from behind the frig and if you have enough slack, take that end to the tap valve and the bucket, place the frig end of the tubing in the bucket, open the tap valve until you are satisfied the flow is nomal., close the tap avel and hookup the frig end. Open the tap valve an the test the water dispenser for flow.

Ice amker and water spickett is no longer working

Hollow ice cubes are the result of poor water flow to the ice maker. I know you already have experienced flow issur since you mentioned poor water dispenser flow. You apparently have a filter clogged, a house supply valve clogged or lastly a clogged water solonoid valve. The filter is self explanitory. You would replace the filter. The house supply valve is next most likely, to test it you would need to remove the supply line at the rear of the refrigerator after turning supply off the turn supply on to check flow. If the flow is STRONG then next most likely is a clogged solonoid valve. To test it you would, with supply connected and turned on, need to locate the plastic tube that goes to the water dispenser reservoir in the refrigerator section. Disconnect the tube at the solonoid valve and place glass or pitcher at solonoid port while someone presses the diapenser lever. If you have poor flow then but had good supply flow, the valve must be bad.

Slow water flow

dadcanfix. There are two possibilities here. One could be the water valve itself, clogged or not seating or opening properly. The second would be the water tank on the refrigerator side, partially frozen. I believe they have a kit now with coiled tubing that replaces that tank because of the trouble they had with it. Remove the refer drawers and take a hair dryer and go over the tank lightly. See if that improves the water flow. Catriver..post back.
