SOURCE: T5082 CF reader problem

If your comfortable opening the case, I would try disconnecting the reader from the mother board, and then reconnecting it. Sometime reseating the connections will fix it. Usually however the hardware is bad. If this is the case, you can get a replacement here
http://www.skyline-eng.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6082 IT's a little pricey though, may want to watch for the part number on Ebay.

SOURCE: i am trying to restore my emachine t5082 back to

can you copy the disk onto a new folder on the desktop? if you can then there is no problem with the disk...you dont mention how old your computer is but if may be worth your while getting a dvd lens cleaner.does it read other disks ok? if so you might have a damaged cd and will have to look for a new disk. if the disk is not reading from your drive...ask a friend with a new computer ( clean drive lens ect ) and ask them to copy it for you.as long as it does not have a copy protection on it you will be ok, if it does you might have to ask the supplier of you e-machine for a new disk but they will prob ask for a charge

SOURCE: I have an emachines t5082 and tried installing 2GB

eMachines recommends DDR2 at 533MHz.
(PC2-4200)

A lot of ram memory manufacturers, state you can use DDR2 at 667MHz. (PC2-5300)

This is a logical statement due to the fact that a lot of motherboard chipsets, (Northbridge chip specifically),
will allow ONE step up in ram memory frequency rate.

You are going Two steps up.
Who told you this would work?
This is erroneous.
(Mean that in a nice sort of way)

PC 6400 is DDR2 at 800MHz.

Your eMachines T5082 motherboard uses an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 motherboard chipset.

This chipset will only support DDR2 at 667MHz at best.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xpress_200

Suggest you send that ram back, and get PC2-5300.

SOURCE: i have a emachine t5082.

Go into the BIOS, it will be in there...I don't remember where off hand, it won't be hard to find though.

Shut down your computer and wait for it to power down. Press the power button and look for a message that says "Press X to enter Setup." In most eMachines, this will be either the "F1" or "F2" key.

Emachines t5082- i pulled out the 512 mb chip of pc2-4200 533mhz that came in in the computer stock, and replaced with two 1gb chips pc2-4200 533mhz ( the computer has a max of 2 gb via two 1gb max slots)...

1)Check for BIOS update from emachines. Older computer may need updated BIOS to handle the increased memory.

2) If it does start up but the computer crashes or it will not load windows, Verify the sticks are error free with a memory diagnostic program like memtest. If the sticks have errors, get them replaced.

Unable to run in dual channel mode

Hello,
Welcome to FixYa.

Currently there is no bios update for your system. In the course of operating my business I have seen dual channel RAM run in single channel as a result of the CPU in use. This should not be the case in your model though.

I would encourage you to speak with a Kingston rep to solve this problem as you are well within warranty.

Toll-Free:+1 (877) KINGSTON
+1 (877) 546-4786
Here is the Contact Page for Kingston if you are outside the U.S.
http://www.kingston.com/company/contact.asp

They will be able to resolve your issue which has to be related to the RAM you purchased. Even though the memory configurator pointed you to this RAM, it may not be functioning correctly and should be replaced or upgraded to a more specific RAM model.

Regards, thanks for choosing FixYa.

Installation windows xp emachine t5082

You must find "eMachine" XP USB drivers for your computer.
If all USB support is "enabled" in BIOS, the conflict is with drivers.
XP is loaded with many generic drivers, however eMachines is proprietary and requires eMachine drivers for most on-board hardware.

Contact eMachines support to locate the drivers (if available).
