I am really sorry to hear that your touch pad is not working. You mentioned that you see an orange light on it, where did you see it? is it on the top of your touch pad? if it's just on the top of your touch pad, all you have to do is just press the button right beside the orange light. Because the touch pad is being disable indicating the orange light, when you press the button you will see a blue light indicating that you enable the touch pad.
There should be a function key to enable/disable the touch-pad (Fn and one of the light blue keys usually "F" keys) try to look through the keys and see if you have the pad turnned off, if it was a windows update theat stopped it from working then you should be able to roll it back to a working order from a system restore point. Go under the start menu select accessories, system tools, system restore then select the restore point at which you remember the touch-pad still worked.
there is a light above your touch pad and a small button directly below the light. When it is white the touch pad is on. Turn it off and the light goes red.

1) Check if you have small on/off button for touch pad, it should be near the touch pad.
2) Remove the battery and put it back and try.
3) Try uninstall and reinstall the driver for pointing device.
The
eMachines E725 has a built in switch to toggle the touchpad on or off
by the touch of a button. Look at the button to the left of the main
power switch. You'll notice the icon looks like a hand touching a
rectangle - or touchpad. if this button is lit up, the touchpad is
turned off. simply press the button to toggle the touchpad back on. The
light on the button should now be off.

If it stopped working after you dropped it, try this:
Hold the Zen in your hand, and with your thumb, press down on the face board as hard as you can. Use your other hand's finger to scroll up or down on the touch pad. Press down different areas of the face board until you find a spot that, when pressed, causes the touch pad to work. Then, using both of your thumbs, press that spot VERY hard until the touch pad works without pressing.
When the touch pad stops working it's one of three things. 1- A driver glitch, unistall the touch pad drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers automatically. 2- The touch pad connector has worked loose. Take the palm rest with the touch pad off, disconnect the cable, clean the connectors, and reseat the cable firmly. 3- the touch pad has failed and will need to be replaced. The driver glitch is the most common, I believe that it should take care of the problem. Let me know.
