Hi
When I try to print double sided using Vista, my j5780 printer prints out the odd pages and then just sits there. I press the OK button on the printer itself but no joy, it still sits there saying printing on the little display. I don't even get a pop up on my screen saying to turn the paper round and re-insert or anything like that. I have chosen manual and manually in the printing preferences and control panel tabs. There is no option to install a duplexer unit in the printer device settings tab if that's what you were going to say ;-)
I am unable to delete the job from the queue, or print anything else until I go and do the net stop spooler trick and manually delete the spool files from the spool directory.
I've got the latest Vista drivers off the HP web site.
If you can solve this you deserve the genius rating
Thanks and any help appreciated...

You can install an instance of the Deskjet 6500 series drivers using "Add Printer", local printer, (use the same port the J5780 is installed on). You can have this co-exist with the J5780 driver and you could name it J5780 Duplex if you wish.

EXACTLY the same problem. Tearing my hair out uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no avail no matter what settings I choose.
Couple of things. It DOES work in Word - except it's Word itself that tells you to turn the pages around and click ok - nothing from the HP driver itself. It's in Acrobat Reader I've been having the problem. Their website says it's the HP driver responsible not them...
Not a solution but it does the trick: from within the HP driver dialogue box don't choose double-sided printing. Just choose first to print the odd pages, turn them around when done then opt to print just the even pages.
Same problem with a C3180 printer
I have exactly the same problem with Vista and double-sided priting and have un installed and reinstalled printer and drivers to no effect, the printer just hangs there and I have to restart to clear the printer spool!
It's a bummer, isn't it?
So how do you get the original print to clear! from the printer spool then? This is driving me batty!! I've had the same problem for three days!! HELP!
Thank you,
