LG Plasma TV 50PCID it takes about 10 goes on the remote to turn the unit on? Even when I use the button on the TV to turn it on it doesn't work. Each time it tries to turn on it makes clicking sounds, the white light is on but then goes back to the black "off" screen. Then I have to press the on/off on remote to get the red standby light so I can try again.

If totally dead it appears to be a power supply issue.

SOURCE: 42 LG plasma no picture but sound. found internal

Sounds like it started "Protection Mode" because of a failed electronic part inside the TV. When this happens, the TV will keep turning itself OFF or will not turn ON at all. This keeps the other parts inside from being damaged. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The common part to go bad for flat panel screens circuit board that powers the screen itself. Most manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say what is 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.

You have a few choices:

1. Best thing to do, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, schematics, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. Its the best repair guide material for fixing TVs. And most cases the new part cost less than $15 by searching on the internet with the part number.

2. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Turn on but remote doesn't work

I would try new batteries first. If that doesn't help then replace the remote with a universal unit that you can program to work with your TV.

My Panasonic viera tv will turn on and off but no other buttons work On the remote or on the tv itself

Try unplugging power cord for 10 sec. or for over night. That might be the trick. I did the same trick on a satillite receiver and a DVD player that got stuck like your tv is doing and it worked, doesn't hurt anything to do so. Hope this helps.

Lg plasma mt 42pz10

I wish I had an answer for you but I'm in the same boat. I've got a 42pc5d and it's doing the same thing. I'll turn it on using either the remote or the power button on the unit itself. The LED will blink either two or three times, then shut itself off. I tried plugging the unit into a different outlet. I tried unhooking all inputs (PS3, DVD player, antenna, etc). The tv was still shutting itself off. I called tech support and the lady who answered asked me if there was a power button on the unit. Well, of course I understand LG has hundreds of models but I felt like I was dealing with someone who didn't care enough to even open the manual to see for herself. Anyway, after a "reset", the TV is now nothing more than a very expensive paperweight. To say I'm displeased is an understatement.

Send it back ASAP and get a replacement! I'm serious. You wouldn't want to baby sit this lemon by missing work because you're waiting for a home service tech provided by the company. When the tech comes, he will not have the part required to fix the unit and you'll be waiting at least a week to get another service call. That's another day missing work. You are one lucky guy if the servicer can totally fix the unit to your satisfaction in two visits. Days missed at work could very well add up into buying a new TV. Do not take ownership of this problematic unit especially if you just bought it. Send it back!
