My double pick up Dean edge quit working while playing. I checked the wiring and all looks good, but three is s a black wire coming from hole to center of body attached to nothing. Looks like it never was. Input jack is good too.

It should be easy to identify because of the solder where it was connected...You should notice at first glance....However the red wire jumps to another..Sometimes there are 3 to 4 red wires that all run from the main pending on the pick-ups If you have more than one there will be more than one wire...Look closely with a magnifying glass I'm sure you will see it...Follow all red wires until you see the small lump of solder where wire was broken from...Normally when this happens there are still a tiny piece of the wire stuck inside of solder...

First you have to remove all backing plates...Wire feeds through the small hole running from battery area and attached to the volume/treble dials...then to the pickups..Everything is soldered to the switches....If you plan on removing them you will need a soldering gun and silver soldering wire...It takes a steady hand and good vision to do this....I recommend a magnifying glass and or glasses....

Yes, one will be an earth, one to the cord socket tip (that one is OK as does play), and one as you have said. It sounds like the wire to the tone pot has come off.

How to Change Strings on a Dean Vendetta Guitar

If you own a Dean Vendetta guitar, you will need to change the strings periodically in order to keep your guitar sounding bright and crisp. Without changing the strings, your instrument will sound dull due to dirt and oil build-up on the strings.

Things You'll Need:

* Dean Vendetta guitar
* String winder
* Guitar strings
* Electronic tuner
* Wire cutters


Locate the high E string. This is the string that is highest and thinnest and closest to the ground when you play the guitar.

Loosen the high E string by turning its tuning key counterclockwise. Use a string winder for this if you have one. Pull the string off of the tuning peg and out through the bridge.

Insert a new high E string through the hole in the bridge, up the neck, to the head of the guitar.

Thread the string through the hole in the tuning key so that about two inches extends beyond the hole.

Hold the string at the top end of the neck in one hand as you turn the tuning key clockwise with the other hand. A string winder makes this task much easier.

Continue to wind the string until it tightens to pitch. Use an electronic tuner to check the pitch.

Clip off the excess string with wire cutters.

Repeat these steps to install the B, G, D, A, and low E strings.

The wiring in the back is so very thin and the circuit board isn't attached to anything but the wires that are attached to it. I found two weak solder joints there and one in the battery compartment (you'll have to remove it to get to the solder joints). I don't know which repair did the job, but it's working for now, anyway. I'd like to replace the tiny wires but there's not enough room in that compartment. I, also, had to replace the 4 bridge screws with larger diameter SS screws months ago as ALL 4 were stripped. Thread too fine for wood that soft. Come on Dean, step it up a notch! The bass plays and sounds great.

if i was you i would take the guitar apart and see if there is any loose wires especialy at the 1/4 inch inputs.
