Hey
This could be a little difficult to explain.. coz the white ring acts as a spring and putting it back on is not hard but difficult to explain.

See first of all on an acer laptop a key has 3 components
the key
the white thing (which holds the key in place)
and a black soft thingy (which actually gets pressed wen u press a button and acts like a spring)
first of all the white ring can be removed and refixed easily .
Youll see 4 small hook like structures on the palce where key needs to be placed ... first place the white ring over there, the white ring has 2 things which come into one another. (try referring to the key where in the white ring is still in place).
now if the black spring like thingy is removed from its place, place it in the center of the ring and put the key on, try moving the key a little, if the key and white ring are put correctly, this will produce a click like sound showing the key is locked by the white ring .. if the white ring is dismantled into 2 parts it could be a little tricky to put them back on.. in that case i guess ull have to check a fixed ring and try and replicate the same for this key

for further assistance feel free to mail me on:

Cheers
Kushal

O want to install a new key . What are the steps ,please

A key falling off of a keyboard might be an annoyance, but it is not a reason to buy a new keyboard. Regardless of which key falls off, it can be replaced fairly easily. Although the method of replacing typical letter keys is a little different than replacing the space bar, replacing either of these types of keys can be done in a few minutes.

Carefully pry the key from the keyboard next to the key that has fallen off. This key can easily be pried by sliding a flat-head screwdriver underneath it and popping the key out. Be careful to make sure the key retainer underneath the key stays in place, especially if the key retainer has also fallen off the key you are attempting to fix. Look closely at the key retainer underneath the key that was just removed. Notice there is a notch in each corner of the key designed to hold the key in place. Place the key retainer back into place if it has fallen off the key you are trying to fix. Make sure it is positioned exactly as the key retainer next to it is. Put the key on top of the key retainer. Use your index finger to firmly push straight down on the key to lock the key back into place. Do the same to the key that was taken off to view the other key retainer. b> Replacing the Space Bar b> Turn the space bar upside down and use a flat-head screwdriver to separate the retainer from the back of the space bar key. Place the retainer into its place on the keyboard. The retainer will hook into small hooks on the left and right sides. The small metal bar from the retainer should line the bottom of the area where the space bar will be placed. Put the space bar back into the place where it belongs. Spread the ring finger, middle finger and index finger across the space bar, and push firmly until the key snaps into place. Put the space bar key back in place and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.

After 2 months of use my "V" key just fell off. No prying, no dropping and this laptop is immaculately clean. Just a broken "V" key. It will not snap back into place. How do I get this fixed?

usually if you push the key back then put a little pressure in it. it will snap back to the keyboard. if nothing happens. i advised you to contact your manufacturer and have your laptop repaired if it is still under warranty

Acer laptop spacebar fell off

The space bar key is connected tothe keyboard a little bit differently then any other key.
clip_image002.jpg
There is a metal retainer connectedto the space bar key (on some keyboard models). Separate the retainer from thespace bar key with a flathead screwdriver.
clip_image004.jpg
Install the retainer back inplace as it shown on the picture. You have to engage the retainer with thesmall hooks on the keyboard.
clip_image006.jpg
Put the space bar key back inplace and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.
clip_image008.jpg
That’s it. The space bar key isinstalled back in place and should work as before. If you still cannot fix yourkeyboard, then you’ll have to find a new oneand replace it.
Pleas rate my solution on fixya if you are done.

A key from my keyboard just fell off,how do fix it back?

Most keyboards the keys tops just snap into place. However, if the plastic is broken you will probably have to replace the keyboard. Good thing is they are relatively inexpensive.

One key fell off

You should be able to place it on the retainer and press it on, you may need to move it around a bit. If it just flat won't snap back on, check the retainer to make sure that the pins that fit into the clips on the back of the key aren't bent or broken, and check the clips on the key to see if the sides are bent or broken. If the pins or sides of the clips are bent, take a small flathead screwdriver and straighten them. If they're broken it will need to be replaced.

Keyboard key issue in laptop

The metal bar needs to be clipped on to the plastic shift key. Look under the plastic shift key and you can see recess where the metal bar fits. Place the shift key over these recess and push down until it clicks into place.

Two of the keys fell off. Its a acer aspire 3050.

the is an armature under the key that holds it evenly flat. make sure that is not missing before snapping the keys back in place.
If the parts are completely missing your best bet is to find a complete keyboard on an otherwise broken machine that is the same as yours.
good luck

F key came off

1.
If you have the key retainer (image) you can find some good instructions on the webpage.

2.
If you do not have the retainer you will have to buy either the key or the entire keyboard from ebay. As of Jan 1 there are no keys available for acer keyboards but the entire keyboard is available here and here.
