I need a manual to be able to programme the video to my television.

Have you tried the Philips website? Makers often have free user manuals to download.

This is stupid but I lost my manual and can't figure out how to change the time on my Philips DVP3050v

I assume you wish to set the VCR (model DVP3050) clock. This is easy, just follow these instructions:

  1. Press VCR, then press DISC/VCR MENU so MENU appears. If the clock has never been set, the CLOCK SET menu may appear when you press DISC/VCR MENU. If so, follow the instructions from step 3 on this page.
  2. Press \/ or /\ to select CLOCK SET.Then, press >.
  3. While the MONTH space is flashing, press \/ or /\ until the month appears. Then, press >.
  4. While the DAY space is flashing, press \/ or /\ until the day appears. Then, press >.
  5. While the YEAR space is flashing, press \/ or /\ until the year appears. Then, press >. The day of the week will appear automatically.
  6. While the HOUR space is flashing, press \/ or /\ until the hour appears. Then, press >.
  7. While the MINUTE space is flashing, press \/ or /\ until the minute appears. Then, press >.
  8. While the AM or PM space is flashing, press \/ or /\ to point to AM or PM. Your selection will flash on the screen in the AM/PM space.
  9. Press CLEAR/RESET or > to start the clock.
And you can now have an online manual, click here. (Adobe pdf required) Directions on page 22.

I have a video cassette stuck in a philips vr 700. The screws are not normal. How do I open the vcr?

You will need a special screwdriver. Depending where you live try searching in electrical parts shops such as Maplin (UK) or Radio Shack (USA). They might be what are called tamper proof screws or something along those lines. You could also try google image search to see if you can try to find the type of screw. Try entering "Tamper Proof screws" first and see if any resemble yours.
