There are no foams inside the printer for normal operation. Unless this is the one that was inside it during shipping but you were not able to remove it. In any case if you are not having any problems then you are good to go. dont worry about it.

My granddaughter put a toy in printer & a part broke off - thin, translucent piece about 1/4 inch wide by 7 inches long. How do I open up the printer in order to try to put this part back?

Hello,
The plastic piece you are talking about it just prevents the paper from bending forward when is inserted in the printer. That plastic piece should not cause any paper jams or printing problems. If you do happen to have paper jams maybe a piece of plastic fell inside where the paper goes. Simply turn off the printer, remove the paper and flip the printer upside down and shake it a little that should remove any debris inside the printer.

Printer has been working fine. all of a sudden the paper started to load crooked and jammed. now it continues to do this...why?

Usually it's because something has fallen down the back where the paper goes. One person on here turned her printer upside down and shook it and a Bic pen fell out. I got one last week with a wood screw inside. sometimes I find push pins, candy or jewelry. If nothing comes out try looking inside with a light and small mirror.

Will not print because paper always jams

Perhaps there is paper still jammed inside the printer that you cannot see (or little bits from a previous jam)

1) Turn off the power
2) Disconnect the power cord and USB cable
3) Open the rear cover and see if paper is jammed inside the cassette area. Gently remove any paper and make sure no little bits of paper are left inside
4) Open the scanning unit (printer cover) and check that no paper is stuck internally. Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer.
5) Reattach the power cord and USB cable
6) Power On and retry your print job

Canon ip 2600 printer. Paper does not feed

Hey I had the same problem. Called the company; we couldn't fix it. Well I turned it upside down and a 2" flower stem fell out from when I cut some flowers next to my desk. It still didn't work. I was examining the feed area while it was running and I found another little piece of stem that was lodged way in there. I had to get it out with tweasers and it turned out to be 1" long. Couldn't really see it at all. Works fine now.

False paper jam

possible solution - I had a similar printer that had small stones that fell into the paper slot at the back and jammed the mechanism. a shelf behind the printer had these little rocks and a child dropped them into the printer. I had to take it all apart, but it worked after that

False paper jam

Turn it upside down and shake it. then check the input tray. Also, chck the jam switch. it's a microswitch in the paper path. it could be bent of stuffed with a small piece of paper.

Paper feed

Your printer is politely asking you to please get a torch, and open the lid of unit and thoroughly check inside all over for a tiny jam of paper or something else. I am willing to bet you will find some jam. I would also switch it off, and wait a while before turning on and printing again. Good luck
