You need to find out what Co. made the touchscreen for that model to see if they have updated touchscreen drivers for windows 8. Sounds like your machine was intended for XP, Good luck!
Even though you like xp its an obsolete OS, when you get used to it, Windows 7 is not that bad. But new computers do not come out with XP drivers. btw.. I'm still on XP.

I've tried looking at HP's website and saw that the only drivers available for download for this model of computer are for Vista or Windows 7 only.
It's still possible to put xp on this machine however you would have to look for the drivers manually. You would have to download them from the manufacturers website and the most rigorous part is to identify the model number and the manufacturer of the device built onto the motherboard of the laptop.
If you can live with it I do suggest you stick with windows 7. BUt if you really have to downgrade to XP better list the model numbers and the names of the device under device manager so you'd know which drivers to download.
