Some Panasonic stereo's don't like non shop bought, home burnt discs (they are recorded at a different level) so try new discs plus run a CD laser cleaner through your system.

My sharp cd-ba200 will barley play cds

Put the player On for few hours or overnight. Now remove the panel and get access to the optical head unit, use a clean ear bud to polish the optical head. If not the optical head is weak and must be replaced.

My D-7 will not power up...when turn it on the power light weakly flickers (as well as the power sound) for only sec then nothing. Have cleaned battery connections, used charged batteries and even to

Sounds like electrolytic capacitor dried up needs curing, which is power on capacitor and left it absorb some moisture in humidity on power. Some time a few minutes, hard cases may take a few days.

I get the TOC Error, when I put bought cds in.

don't think you will like this answer but, it probably time to get a new cd player... you could try using a cd cleaner designed to clean the laser or spray the insides with compressed air.

Hi, i have a 1984 fisher studio standard cd player. when it plays, it sounds excellent and works fine. the machine will play cdr's as well as normal cds. however, some cds it simply will not spin. it...

Thanks for the informative write-up. So few know how to describe a problem (example: it's broke) or have the intuition to check a few things out.

A surviving 1984 CD player? Good for you. And they originally said the lasers would burn out in a few years.

Don't read too much into sound quality and tracking of defects for this problem. It sounds like a load status sensing problem. Does it make the thee clicks when you load no disk or one upside down (to simulate a bad disk)?

You're probably on the right track with the tilt. I suspect you need to locate the sensor that 'sees' the presence of the disk in the first place. Can you try your troubleshooting with the covers off and observe what may be different at the tilted angle?

Does not recognize any cds

Insert a CD that has writing on the top, noting which way the lettering is facing. Close the drawer. Wait a few seconds. Open the drawer.
If the lettering still is facing the same way, the disk did not "spin".
So, the motor that spins the disk is dead. Replace the CD/DVD unit.

If the disk does spin, then the laser inside the unit has failed. Replace the CD/DVD unit.

DVD unit doesn't read CDs but works fine with DVDs

Sir: Did you try another CD or just 1 CD could not read by your DVD RW? Would you please make the DVD poped out and re-set it again. It seems the problem of communication becasue the code rate of DVD and CD is different. Its not related with the lens.
