Use tip of Pen with ink cartridge stored. Large fingers do not work.

I had the same issue with my unit off and on until finally it always loaded up with the red and white x and would not connect to the computer. What I did was I opened up my unit and reseated the connection to the hard drive. Right after I did that and powered it up it loaded immediately and I have not hand any problems since. Once it powered back up I made sure all of my maps and data I wanted kept was on my computer and I formatted the hard drive of the tomtom. Once I did that I ran the tomtom go update and it loaded the latest version of the tomtom software and i restored my maps, poi's, etc. It has been 3 months since I reseated the connection to the hard drive and I have had zero problems.

Sounds like the calibration has gone on your touchscreen. Unfortunately there is no fix for the tt like you can with Magellan and garmin.

There is a gps repair website that shows you how to replace the screen yourself.
