My 18 year old refrigerator GE model TFX24FG freezer side is not keeping food frozen. Refrigerator side seems to be working normally.

The refrigerator side is at present working properly , but slowly slowly, it will also loose its cooling. This will happen because, freezer side is the side which cools first, then the refrigerator side ( also called as fridge side)., gets cooled. If freezer side is not cooling / freezing properly then fridge side will also loose its cooling ability.------------ And later on both section will loose its cooling.----------- As per the present situation, it indicates problem with compressor or problem with freezer side door not closing properly.---------- Or the temperature in freezer section is not set to proper cooling/ freezing.--------- So first inspect temperature, is it set right? If ok, then check the freezer door , is it properly closed? If ok, then its compressor problem.? The compressor is running non stop, this is indication of compressor problem.---------- Click this link below for more help:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/both-refrigerator-and-freezer-not.html ----------- Later on both section will loose its cooling. -------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My freezer is working perfectly but the fridge is not

The channel in the back were the cool air comes down from the freezer to the fridge may be iced up. Try defrosting the fridge/freezer for much longer than usual, all day if necessary.

I have GR-B598Y, same problem dudes...I bought it today..the freezer section is alright, but the refrigerator section is not cooling properly..i measured the temperature and its 14 Celsius in the...

Well yes..i think i solved the problem..
In this model i figured out that the cooling system for both rerigerator and freezer compartments are affected by each other.
If you switch freezer to high number (e.g 4 5 6 7) above 3 which is normal, this would affect rerigerator and become warmer.
Just put freezer to 3 and wait for temperature to stabilize when first operated and it is going to cool effeciently.

Refrigerator not cooling.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, your described problem could be either:
  • evaporator fan/blower is faulty; or
  • air passgaeway blocked or vent is blocked or closed.
The refrigerator section gets its cold air from the freezer. If the freezer is working then the frozen air would have to be drawn to the refrigerator side by the fan. If the fan is not working or the air passage way is blocked, then no frozen air would be moving towards the refrigerator side. result would be as you described.

In some instances, it could be the thermostat of the refrigerator but this would be least likely.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
