HELP!! I used my fiancee's dad's fax and copier this morning and now it wont stop making noise. Like it is trying to copy but it cant. When I try to press the copy button it says device busy. Help please my fiancee is going to kill me when he sees.

When I print a copy from the computer screen, the printer copies without problems. When I make a copy using the paper feed or glass scan plate, the printer scan light starts going ON and OFF as the light starts to travel a few inches and then returns in an oscillating mode. A noise accompanies the oscillations. What part failure would cause this?

Oh Oh, Firstly did you disconnect it from the power?
Unplug it and leave it unplugged for 10 minutes.
Open the doors and make sure all the paper is where it should be and you have no paper jams anywhere.
Plug it back in and see if it does the same thing.

If it has an error then most likely when you turn it back on it will give you the error code or it might just sit there and be quiet.

Usually when they are making noises it points to a hardware issue, I wouldnt think that you just using it caused the problem.

What does transmission report cdoe NG290000 mean on a Sharp MXM363n MFP When trying to send a fax?

My recommendation would be to hit the speaker button when sending a fax to hear why your fax wont go through.

When you hit speaker you should have a clean dial tone, then when you start dialing and the tone stops make sure you don't have any static or noise on the line.

There are several reasons you might get a NG error. One is the fax line you're trying to send to is busy. Maybe it's a phone line not a fax you're trying to send to. Maybe you need to dial a 1 or 0 for long distance, maybe your fax line has noise on it.

Using the speaker can help troubleshoot what the problem is.

Have a MFC-440Cn and cant get it to fax. I am using my computer to connect it too and it scans and copies as it should but it does not fax. I get an error the says NG: poor line condition/out of memory

The only thing that could stop you from sending a fax or not get a dial tone, would be the connection to the phone lines.

Make sure the telephone wire is plugged into the line jack (not ext jack) and should go straight to the wall, without splitters or extensions.

If you still cannot send a fax, try another telephone wire and jack.

It says offline and wont let me copy photos on my computer, cant get it online

Go to Start select Printers and Faxes is there a picture showing your printer is being recognised

If there is, is there a black tick against it

If not then right click on the picture and select Make Default, a black tick should then appear on the picture

Shut down PC re-start the go back into Printers & Faxes and make sure it is still the default printer

Try to print an image

Try to print if the copy is lighter than before or it cant copy or print then you need to replace your toner cartridge.

Muratec F-300 is not used for faxing, but will not copy either.

Download (FREE) the operators manual from Muratecs web site.
www.muratec.com
Make sure you are in the COPY mode(not FAX.) before trying to make a copy. As the F-300 is a "fax" machine, it will probably be in the fax mode as default.
The downloaded operators manual will help.
