I was using a universal AC/DC adapter with my Boss MicroBR, and when I powered it on there was a small plume of smoke. Now it won't work with any AC adapter. I hate using batteries, because it drains a pair of rechargable AA's in less than 5 minutes. Is there an easy solution to fixing this? I assure you, I don't generally exhibit such...

Rechargeable batteries CANNOT be used in this, ONLY alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries are ACTUALLY lower volltage (about 1.25 instead of 1.5) that is very near the cutoff point for operation so even fully charged rechargeables last only minutes. Sorry you used "universal" adapter because either you chose wrong polarity or too high a voltage and fried the internal voltage regulator. It is repairable by repair facility.

Amp turns on but puts out no sound except for faint noise which dies out after a few seconds.

It sounds like a defective/incorrect AC-to-DC adapter may have caused your problem. These adapter come with different output voltages, AC or DC output and different amperage ratings. AC-to-DC adapters list the polarity of the DC voltage as it relates to the DC power plug and you must match both the devices voltage and power requirements. As for the amp...not working on batteries either, I would suspect output transistors or IC.

Adapter polarity

Boss ME-25, use polarity like boss stompbox.
+ voltage at the ring, and - voltage at the center pin, of the adapter
connector.

At ME-25 DC socket:

Used my line6 adapter on boss mt2. there was a little smoke at the ac in. the pedal stopped working. please help!

Which Line 6 power supply? If you look at the specs stamped into the L6 supply you should see the voltage, current capacity, and polarity (if DC). Polarity would have a symbol showing an inner post and outer shell and indicate which is positive....referred to as positive or negative tip. Let me know what these specs are and I can have a better idea of what may have happened. Sounds like it burned out a protection circuit designed to protect the pedal from incorrect power applied. Will it still work with a battery?

My digitech rp 500 has power supply but it won't

Make sure you have the OFFICIAL Digitech power adapter. Universal adapters or those for MOST other pedals will NOT work... things may light up but you will NOT get audio. This unit requires an adapter supplying 9 VAC (not DC) at about 1 amp. These AC output adapters are not very common and people get the units without an adapter and try using universal adapters and they do not work. An AC adapter is used by Digitech so they can generate both plus and minus voltages internally. I don't know what your utility power voltage is in Cebu, so you need to get an adapter for your voltage that will give 9 VAC output and fit the power jack on the unit.

I cant get any sound out of it whatsoever. the output level is permanently on full and nothing I do with the knobs changes it. help please?

Do you have the CORRECT power supply??? This takes a 9 VAC (not DC) adapter of 750ma current rating. People seem to try using "universal" adpaters to drive these devices that REQUIRE an AC power input and then they wonder why they won't work. So check that you have the official Behringer adapter for your unit. Note that AC adpaters are hard to find.

I have purchased a replacement power cable for my dm5 pro and it doesn't seem to work. it is a uk ac 9v 1000Ma adapter. what is the problem? how do i solve it? thanks, lee

Make SURE the adapter is NOT a DC output adapter. You need 9VAC output at about 1000ma. (1 amp) Many people try to use "universal" dc adapters and they will NOT work with the DM5.

HI, unfortunately I lost the power adapter of my Gemini FX 7000. I want to replace it with a universal power adapter with the accurate voltage but the connector is quite weird for a power supply (RJ 45)...

Don't even think of using a universal adapter !!! I could not find the schematic of this unit, but other Gemini mixers like this use center tapped AC power transformers. Any universal adapter will be DC, not AC. I have found that the FX7000 indeed uses an 18 VAC adapter... Try this as a source:

What polarity is the input on the ion IED04 DIGITAL DRUM STAION BY ION. I HAD TO GET A POWER ADAPTER AND DON'T WANT TO DAMAGE UNIT. THERE IS NO PICTURE TO NOTE POLARITY.

There is NO POLARITY to worry about since you MUST use an adapter that supplies 9 volts AC at around 850ma. You CANNOT use a DC adapter with this unit and have it work. Putting a DC adapter of 9 volts on it won't damage it, it just won't work.

AC output adapters are harder to find.
