Hello Jim,
I'm glad I was able to help you. Hopefully you can return the help regarding my assitance on the chat session for your dryer.
For some reason your accepting my solution has not been recorded although you rated the help as 4 thumbs up...my account shows the solution was rejected.
Perhaps you can log in again and amend the error, as much as I like to help with the chat sessions, it is based on customers honoring the system and us experts providing help on the premise of getting paid.
Thank you.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)
Testimonial: "Very fast and professional help. Had a handle on the problem right away & gave me the solution. Sent me to a site to view how to fix it! Great!"
Hello again,
Thank you for the great testimony, I do appreciate it. Just to be clear though, it is the "rejection" of the solution I was referring to. I don't get credit for providing a solution (regardless of your rating or testimony) unless you "accept" the solution in the place provided by FixYa. The "site" I directed you to by the way was simply a "redirection" to my profile here at FixYa where I've solved this problem many times, hence the "macmarkus" (that's me) icon & profile name in the best solution header. Thanks again Jim. I already contacted admin. here at FixYa and they either can't or are unwilling to do anything...I guess as long as they get paid they don't see a problem. Very frustrating grrr. Lol.
Hello Mr. MacDonald - could you please relay me the information that you provided to Jim that helped solve his problem because I have the same problem with my dryer at the moment. Thank you very much!
Can anyone relay the answer to this problem?
Hello, welcome to FixYa.
To those who have posted with the same issue in the past 2-3 yrs. I very rarely frequent the Fixya site these days, however, here is a copy of the solution in question...
Based on your description and my experience, I'd say indeed it is possible (and very likely) the belt has come off, thus activating the "kill switch".
I've seen this many, many times...though the belt usually doesn't break it just comes off. Very common for Samsung dryers for whatever reason.
**Unplug the unit before proceeding...safety first**...
The good news is if you can get to it from the back you can simply remove the small panel around the exhaust tube as shown here,
if it's not accessible from back you'll need to go from the front...that's do-able too, just a little more involved. Let me know.Once in the back the belt should look like this when routed properly, with the "V" grooves towards the drum and motor pulley.
i.e.
Hope that moves you forward...or even better, fixed up.
Let me know what you find. If this is something you think is not within' your scope of expertise please call a pro.
I will try to help in any manner I can of course as well. Good luck.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)

Usually answered in minutes!
I inadvertently closed my session with Macmarkus. I used his tip on what the problem was & fixed it. I had no idea that I was ending the session & by doing so rejecting Macmarkus' solution. Please correct this if possible! He was very helpful & nailed the problem on the first try.
Thank you
Jim Nair
