My 90 year old Aunt has a Sony 900 cordless phone system with an answering machine. The message has gotten screwed up but we can't figure out how to rerecord an answering message. Can you help?

There should either be a delete button or erase message button. If it's a menu system go to delete old messages. Then delete your old messages either one by one or as a batch.. Also look for Mailboxes, select enter, then empty or trash or earase.
I had the same problem but couldn't figure it out either ..... UNTIL, I changed the date and time (which was very old, actually Sept/2007) to the current date, year, time, am/pm, etc.
After I changed the date, time, year, etc. my phone went back to its normal default of 3 or 4 rings & then the answering message plays.
There should be a greeting or greet labeled button on the base.Hold it down and it will prompt you.If there isn't one, without turning on the phone hit the funtion button. There should be a directional button to cycle you through the options. It should be on the base though. We just got rid of our Uniden though because the batteries died and there are so many new ones that come out year to year, they don't even put out the battery anymore. It is less than 2 years old too.:( Good luck!
Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden 5.8GHz cordless system I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download the manual.
