Philips TVs tend to have issues with bad capacitors in their power supplies. Failing capacitors tend to have slightly different ESR (equivalent series resistance) values when they have been left off, versus after they are warmed up and charged up. Either a new power supply board or replacement of the faulty capacitors will fix the problem.
You Must get help from someone with electronic repair knowledge and experience to open your television and check the power supply board and main board for faulty components. You will need some one who Has tools and experience around televisions. The tools needed are Phillips screw drivers and plastic pry bar tools to unlock the casing once the screw are removed. They also will need soldering Iron and solder, solder wick and a solder removal pump. They will need a multimeter to measure components to check to see if they have failed. They should replace all suspect components. If after all this is tested and replaced and still not repaired. Then search ebay for replacement boards for you model of television or buy them online from the dealer or other sources. Always make sure you are dealing with reputable people and have return clauses for defective products. Always remember This product is dangerous and never work on it with the power on. Try to discharge the power supply board before working on it. I hope this will give you some help in resolving your problems.
Plan on fixing or replacing the power board soon. It will keep getting worse until, the end. There is a small bright side. It is the best damage to sell your broken tv "as-is" online. Someone will come pick it for sure.
Hi,
We purchased a phillips plasma 50" in july 06 and it cut on and off 5 or more times a day I called phillips customer service they told us it was due to the cable company they came out and changed the tv jack gave us a new box and tested the lines said everything was ok. The problem still kept happening got back to phillips and they sent us a flash drive to update the info in the tv. still kept happening told us it was due to tv being sensitive to power flutuations. well we are now 5mths out of warrenty and the power board blows up! phillips will not do anything to help the person I spoke with admitted we were given bad advice the bill was estimated at over $500 so if I were you if its still under warrenty make them send someone out to look at it, Reading up on phillips tv complaints this seems to be a common thing By the way phillips customer service sucks dont rely on them to help you much. good luck
this is a plasma tv about 4 yrs old.thank you
