Good morning, I need an advise. Unfortunately, my camera has been dropped on the floor.I can watch the pictures on the screen,I can even download them,but when I push the cover,the lens does not come out.It seems that the camera does not get power.I could see the cover of the lens makes contact with the metal part where is the lace.I tried to dismantle this metal part,I unscrew the small screw, to take out the lens cover,but no chance.Can you advise me what to do? TIPS: 1.)NEVER PUSH THE LENS IN AFTER CAMERA DIES, BUY A NEW BATTERY IMMEDIATLY AND TURN IT BACK ON, CLOSING THE LENS!

1.) Remove battery 2.) Remove front plate (screw driver may be needed) 3.) Check all gears, make sure they are correctly fitted in place) 4.) Move the gear manually to make the lens come out. 5.) keep it out, put the front plate back together. 6.) reinsert the battery, turn it on.
or... 1.) Remove the battery. 2.) Wait about 6-8 hours. 3.) Reinsert the battery.
or... 1.) Remove the battery. 2.) Try hooking it up through AC adapter, put correct voltage. 3.) Try turning it on. 4.) Remove AC adapter, reinsert battery. 5.) Turn it on. If nothing happens just tell me..

Sorry but your camera needs to have the lens replaced. The drop onto the floor damaged it and the only way to fix it is to replace it. Wish I had better news for you.

oh no! you need to get the camera checked. there might be a lens that got dislocated inside the camera. Nikon is pretty fragile. Get it fixed asap or moist will damage the lens and it won't work anymore.
It sounds to me as if this camera needs an urgent service. Most likely a connection inside has become intermittent. Unfortunately dropping a camera is one of the worst fates I could ever wish upon someone. We all know to use the strap, but we only drop them the instant we let go of the strap.
You were very lucky it did not land lens down. I have seen lens mounts ripped from their anchoring with the remainder of the lens smashing the mirror and sensor.

The E18 error is related to the LENS not able to retract fully. If it is still under warranty, I would advise you bring it to the nearest service center. This is to avoid further damages. Otherwise, you can try a few things below.
There are a couple of things you can do.
1. Turn it on and then off. Spray canned air around the lens.
If trick 1 will not work out, try this.
2. Make sure the battery is fully charged. Turn on the camera and then give it a couple of firm whacks on the side. Make sure nothing is blocking the lens and wait for it to fully retract.

What you describe is the symptom of a stuck shutter. The shutter is inside the lens and must close in order for the image sensor to properly record the image. Yours is stuck open, and that is why you see the lines across your images.
When a stuck shutter results from an impact it usually requires full disassembly and manual re-setting of the delicate shutter blades. This problem would require professional repair.
Unfortunately damage from an impact is not covered by your factory warranty. You can find good repair services on the internet who can service your camera.
