The batteries will not charge. The ammeter does not move, just stays at 0 all the time. I pulled the connectors off the ammeter and there is 24 volts going to the ammeter. Not sure if the meter is bad or the charger is bad. This is on a Jazzy 600.This chair was delivered July 2007. Thanks Mike

It is an AMP Meter (Amperes) and AMP's are relative to CURRENT, not Voltage. Voltage measurements are read by a VOLT Meter. W=Watts or work units. Like a 40 Watt Bulb. R=Resistance. If the Battery fails to charge, it is due to the cells degradation as they only last so long. From what you wrote, I assume you need to replace the Battery.

Has your scooter been sitting idle for several weeks, or has it been connected to the charger 24 hours a days for a long time? If so, the batteries may have become damaged and will give you enough power to turn the controller on but not enough to make the motors run.
If the lights come on and are steady, the manual brake levers are in the drive position and the chair still will not move, I recommend replacing the batteries. If anything else were wrong, either the lights would flash or not come on at all.
I hope this information is helpful to you, good luck!

Hooked up my new battery backwards, blew the main fuse. It has been replaced and now the meter fuse in the inside fuse box blows within seconds and gage cluster and alternator not working

Could have damaged regulator. When the car is running have you checked the voltage at battery terminals. If battery is charging it should be around 14 volts. If around 12 your charging system is fubar.

Meanwhile if you have to charge the car every day then something in the car is draining the battery, Using an ammeter you need to track it down, Hook it up to battery and pull fuse out one at a time till the drain goes down. That isolates the circuit with the problem.

My Invacare TDX SP has died on me and someone told me of a trip switch on the batteries..Anyone know where this switch is as all I can see are bolts and metal?

http://www.invacare.com/doc_files/1143190.pdf
Owners manual for TDX SP link above.

First check if you have power present at the charging port. If you have power (24 volts) then the batteries and wiring are not the issue. If you don't then check the battery post fuses. These are "L" shaped brackets with a white square fuse held on the positive post with a through bolt and nut. On older chairs these are known to become loose and or blow just when you need power or stop suddenly.
Also check the big Anderson connectors at the power point at the end of the battery box. Check for solid connections. If there is 24 volts here to the control box, next check the controller connector.
If there is +24 at the controller connector but 0 at the joystick charger port you have big issues. Either the traces connectors in the controller are fried or your joystick has major issues.

Battery keeps going flat on gilera runner 125vx 4stroke

Three possible issues: Bad battery won't hold a charge or rapidly loses a charge. Bad charging system/ alternator. Current draw on the battery when turned off. Use a multimeter to check voltage on battery terminals when it is running. You should see at least 13 volts. Fully charge the battery for about 6 hours, unplug it from the charging system, and then check the battery voltage. It should be at least 12.0 volts, actually a bit higher. If your ammeter can handle it, you could test for current when it is turned off. You want the reading to be 0 or very close to zero,

I have a Pride Jet 3 that I bought from a co-worker. They apparently had automotive batteries in it, and they died. I put new wheelchair batteries in, but when I go to charge it, the bottom row of lights...

use a standard 7.5 volt dc fuse the speed lights will not blink when charging only the battery level lights will Make sure that your batteries are installed correctly... There should be two cables running to the fuse located at the rear of your chair one wire should be attached to the positive post of the front battery and the other wire to the negative post of the rear battery. The other cables should be color coded red for the positive post of the rear battery and the black to the negative post of the front battery. This will connect your batteries in series so you will be getting 24 + volts to the chair. The chair should then come on with the power switch on the joystick all the battery level lights should light up and the speed level lights will light up indicating the speed level you are set on. Once you have made sure that the batteries are wired correctly plug in the charger cord and you should get some deflection on the ammeter. When the ammeter reaches zero and kinda bounces up and down then you should be fully charged Hope this helps

fully recharge the battery first then check that it holds this charge,, take off the battery lead and leave the mower for a week or so if the battery has gone flat then you need a new battery!! winter time kills off batterys if there not kept on trickel charge,,,

Jassy 1103, will not start charging the battery.\r...

the 1103 uses an onboard charger. Charger's life span is about 3 years; some fail in 6 months, some in 6 years keep in mind. You can charge the 1103 using an offboard charger which are available for about $50.00 on Ebay. Search for electric wheelchair charger. You want one that has a 4 to 6 amp rating.

The offboard charger has a 3-prong connector on one end and the other plugs into a grounded wall outlet. Plug the charger into an outlet and the three prong connector into the female three prong connector located at the bottom front of the joystick. Give it a good overnight charge and it should be back up to snuff in the morning.

98 lumina battery dies after a couple of days if not driven

There may be a phantom load on the battery like a glove box, engine area, or trunk light that is not normally looked at. To check, charge the battery completely (overnight @ 4-8 amps), remove the negative battery connector and let the car sit. If the battery goes dead with all loads removed, then the battery has an internal short circuit and must be replaced. If the battery remains charged, then you need to find what is staying powered on when the car is turned off. You may have to start pulling each fuse one at a time to track this down! You will need to insert a low-current ammeter in series with the negative battery cable to tell when you have found the problem. BE SURE TO NOT TRY TO START THE CAR WITH THE AMMETER IN PLACE--IT WILL GO UP IN SMOKE!
