The left front burner turns on but is on high all the time and will not go down to low heat

Rheostat for that burner is no good. Replace it.

The switch controlling the burner is just a voltage controlling unit (rheostat). It needs to be replaced

I would check the gas pressure at the meter reg .It sounds like you are saying too much gas to burners

Faulty switch if you are changing it yourself remember turn off power and take your time, take a photo to compare so you get it right.

I've had this happen before,first make sure that the black burner cap is clean underneath and it's making good contact with the aluminium burner,also make sure the igniter is sparking across to the burner, check the ceramic coating around the igniter isn't cracked or the wires shorting out . I am assuming your cooktop is electric and your have a glass top, if so the burners sensor is bad and you might need to replace the burner. Again before buying anything and for me to help you, I would need a full model number. Some model have plate sensors and with no plate/pot burner cycles. Most of the time I find the sensor in the burner cant detect the heat and this ends up being a safety issue to protect the unit. All this information is based on the premise you have an electric cooktop and a glass surface.

You could have a shorted burner, if it is not then you may have gotten a bad part.

not related any further then sounds as if you have 2 burner switches gone bad,and actually the front right burner is controlled by a electronic control circuit board part retails for about $160-$200 part number 12002723, and left rear switch about $30 part number 74007841 . uint needs to be uninstalled from counter and parts changed by removing the bottom panel

Sounds like the Switch or the element are bad, try trouble shooting them. It's a stove top??
