I have a dx6400 camera, the toggle switch you use to view photos needs replaced. you can only go backwards to view. can i replace this and is it expensive?

In the default camera app the Switch Camera icon appears on the right (portrait) or top (landscape) of the screen. In my version of Android it looks like a camera over an arrow disc, but in older versions looks like an old style camera with a circular arrow where the lens would be. Tap it and your view should toggle between front and back

Hi, With DSLR's you're supposed to look through the view finder to take a picture however if you'd like to use live view on the LCD you need to turn live view on. If you look on the back of your camera there's a toggle around the red record button, you switch it and it'll turn live view on. 2 bolts hold the entire igniter/burner valve tray in place. Remove the entire tray for convenient access. Check your manual, the playback button usually has a small -> (arrow) on it. put it in that mode and use the toggle (round area around menu button) to view all the photos.

I had to replace a toggle switch on another canon and was quoted around $300 from several repairmen....I think you are better off just buying a new camera.

I had the exact problem with my SD600, which I had purchased in Jan 2007 (needless to say it was beyond it's warranty). I called Canon and it would cost me $99 just to have it looked at, and then any additional $$ for pars, shipping and taxes. It was suggested to take it to a local Canon Service Center, which I found in Irvine (through http://www.yelp.com/biz/canon-factory-service-center-irvine). They were able to repair my camera free of charge and would've sent it free of charge, but I was close enough to pick it up. And it only took 4 days for them to repair it. Please pass along this info!

The three position switch for play,camera,video has likely broken. The plastic switch on the outside has a small contact plate held to the back of the switch on the inside with one small screw. I do have a replacement on hand if you are interested.

There are two ways to view the photos, in the camera...

1) if the camera is OFF and the lens barrier is closed, just press the Play (>) button once to view the photos.
2) If the camera is in SHOOTING mode with the lens barrier open, press the Quick View button twice in rapid succession.

When you are done reviewing the pictures, press the Quick View button once to turn the monitor off, OR, to return to the shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway.

Then use the arrow pads to go forward and backward.
