Hello jglassma!
like rodel de guzman wrote, if you can't turn it on manually, then it has propably hardware failure. but try also in a dark room and also check battery is full.

Do you remember doing anything before it stopped working?

Try going to Menu then "flash settings".

Or you can manually turn it on/off by pressing the right button.

If it is still not working, then it is probably a hardware issue.

Not really. I turned off the flash and when I tried to turn it back on it didn't work. Resetting it to factory settings didn't work. I suppose it will have to be a hardware problem.

I just recharged the battery on my Powershot SD1300 IS and now it will not turn on. any ideas would be appreciated.

Do you have another battery or set of batteries? The battery itself/batteries could be dead beyond repair. I always carry two sets of batteries. My Canon cam takes 4 AA.

Canon powershot SD1300 IS won't turn on, even with fully charged battery

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

I've had my camera for 8 months & it just stopped working about 2 months ago. I thought the battery had just died & tried recharging using different cables, outlets & computers. No matter...

May be from a short inside (loose screw), possibly a bad battery caused it, or maybe just failed. Try this site: www.camerasandparts.com They are just great for the Powershots that need reviving. That's all they deal with are these Canon Powershots and they are great all around. They have a service package on their site for your specific problem on the SD1300 and for $79, you get the repair, the service for the camera and shipping back included. Probably the best place out there for service on these models, they do very professional work on these cameras. Good luck with it.

My canon powershot SD1300 IS says lens error and to restart the camera, however i'm unsure on how to restart the camera. Please help! :)

They just mean turn the camera off and back on. Usually when this happens it may need to be sent out to be repaired. If you just purchased it see if it is still within the return period.
If not, you can set up a repair order with the manufacturer here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/online_repair_tracking/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_sd_series/powershot_sd1300_is?pageKeyCode=requestRepair
Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks!

Flash will not work

Before you give up on the camera:

There are many setting that can affect whether the flash works or not.
You may have inadvertently set something that is stopping the flash from working.

Get out your User Manuals and use the index at the back of the book.
Look for something about "Resetting the camera".

This will reset the camera to factory specifications.
Then see if the flash works.

If that does not work ... recharge the battery and try again.

If that does not work, the flash is likely dead.
