The timer knob makes a clicking noise, if i try to turn the gas dryer on, it will make a constant buzzing noise and it wont start. I check continuity on the thermal fuse, cut off fuse and thermostat, all of them are fine. Clean up the vent and blower housing and also check the door contact. All good.

The thermal element that gets red hot and lights the pilot (assuming you have pilot flame) is cracked or broken. It is possible to light with a match but a nuisance.

I would say check voltage at the element to see if voltage is making it there. If it is, replace the element. If it isn't, track from the timer back to see where you are losing voltage.

SOURCE: Kenmore Dryer only lights gas sporaticly

replace the igniter. The ignitor is the most comon problem with gas appliances checking continuity does not tell you if it is bad or not it has to draw a certain amount of amps to open the gas safty valve and the is no safe way to check this on most gas dryers

in this case we put the lower temp thermostat in the oven at 170 degrees till it was hot and measured with ohm meter and it was open. After it cooled down some it went back to being a short. Now with this part in the dryer and the new high temp thermostat
and it blew shortly after being turned on. A possiblity is that there is a short by passing the 150 degree thermostat and the element keeps being on and causes the 350 degree thermostate to blow.

hello.
You likely will need to replace the 2 coil valve solenoids at the top of the burner. These safety coils may gradually fail over weeks or even months giving partial heating and longer dry times. As the coils are going bad, they will work for just a brief amount of time, then after a half hour or so of cycling on and off to maintain the drum's temperature, they'll break down and cease to open the valve.

This link here will show you what they look like and how to replace them, along with some more helpful tips.
I really hope that you find this helpful. Helping others is what I love to do. If you need any further assistance, I'll be happy to help you if I can.

The knob on the right just turns (no clicking) so it does not seem to be selecting a time. now dryer wont start.

Check your timer knob. On these GE dryers I have found a lot of times the knob cracks where the stem of the timer goes in and the resistance of the timer will make ti slip internally rather than turning the knob. If the knob appears to be ok, then I would say you definitely have a bad timer on your hands.
Timer is part number WE4M271 and runs around $100 from marcone's
Knob is
WE1M654 and is around 18$

Good ;uck with this!!

Turned knob and got a buzz. turned knob again and no sound. Just finished a load and was starting on the next.

Hi. im assuming the buzz came from the timer knob(behind the knob). if so, this will confirm timer failure and, you will need to replace this timer control module in order to restore proper function to your unit.

If the buzz was located behind the start switch, replace as well.

Dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the start switch.

Sounds like a bad motor, The buzzing noise is probably the motor humming then nothing because the thermal over load switch inside the motor opened. Timer will still be energized. Good Luck

Hot Point Dryer does not come on but you can hear the noise by the start knob like a low buzz

Feel the outer cover at rear of the dryer at the bottom,if it starts to feel warm then the heater is working, the buzzing noise could be the motor trying to start, or noise from the relay, if the heater does not come on then could be timer faulty or faulty start relay. It is a a process of elmination.
